    I've been Money Tipped!
I would usually ask for service charges to be removed from the bill and then leave the equivalent as a cash tip. I have never felt awkward about doing so .. but then I am not 'average' :)

this might be the wrong thread but....

Who decides which professions get a tip? Waiters, Police, Cab Drivers, Hairdressers, Doctors, Delivery guys, Car Mechanics?

How does one get their job added to the list (because I would like an extra 10 - 20% on my wages as well!)

I think it's whoever bleats about low wages most, couples with who is least deserving. For example nurses complain about low wages, but they probaby do deserve tips for what they do, so they are ruled out.

It's been asked before but who makes your meal great, the person who cooks it or the person who carries it from the kitchen to your table?

What a lovely name for a restaurant, eh? They should win a prize for likely putting some people of eating there based purely on the name.
    Bought, not Brought
  • Because im a 'right on' type of guy ive always leave a tip. Whether its monetry or a little word about share prices. Sometimes I tell them 'heres a tip, dont eat yellow snow' and do you know, they love it.

As for mystery shoppers. Whats the mystery? When I worked in retail I could always tell a mystery shopper. They always had bad breath, my eyes went bloodshot and I nearly fell asleep listening to them being anal.

I would round it off by saying 'dont forget to put my name in your report' to which they would always act confused by saying "what me, eh what for im not a myster shopper or anything" before urinating themselves infront of other customers.

    It was truely awful.

Went to a restaurant in Chinatown in Manchester on Friday with 4 friends. When the final bill came there was a service charge of £20. The food was lovely, but it should be. The service had been ok but not special so we paid £10 instead of the £20. The staff were very upset and called the manager who said we had to pay as the menu had stated that a 10% service charge would be added and that once it was stated on the menu we had to pay it (not sure how true that is). I was under the impression that service charges were optional. Anyway we didnt pay it and the manageress said to the other waiting staff that they were going to have to pay into the pot to cover the service charge that we hadnt paid. Now this has concerned me as it means that the service charge doesnt actually go the staff, so even if the service is brilliant, the waiting staff dont get the tip it goes to the management which I was really unhappy about. Also, the restaurant are using this to top up staff wages to the minimum which is a con. I will be watching this in future and not eating in places where the service charge is demanded.
