    an old glass bottle
    1940s hospital sign
    2 computer games
    pair of brass taps

Dang, that sounds like the sort of stuff I'd buy when I'm on Ebay after a few beers. :o

I think alot of the 'smaller' sellers are leaving because of the 'mandatory paypal' fiasco!

I am one of them. Unfortunately having no transport means I am unable to do car boots etc. so am trying to find somewhere else to sell my 'de-cluttering' stuff.

I am already a member of freecycle but want to get rid of quite abit and NEED THE MONEY.

Darn E-Bay for changing the rules!

I was a powerseller, sold last item in June (which has turned in to a nightmare!) I will no longer accept ebays ridiculous policies that protect neither the buyer or the seller, the numerous loop holes, scams and systems (which I will post about later) and that they will do nothing about as it lines their pockets.
The big powersellers are still there, and will for the medium term. A lot of sellers have repeat business not through ebay (about half of mine was) which could be made up through advertising. Ebay needs them more than they need Ebay.

Oh no....please dont tell me I wont be able to shift stuff of minor value.

Due to work commitments, I haven't been selling on ebay for last 6 mths or so (probably longer) but was hoping to get up and running again this week (teacher so hols are upon us!).

What is this about paypal...do I have to include paypal as a means of paying? Have only ever offered cheque or postal order and not had problems shifting loads. Not sure where to start with selling with paypal but think it costs me more doesn't it?
If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:

I can be found posting on here, trying to avoid putting anything on eBay. I've sold for six years and used to enjoy it. Now I dread waiting for the messages, the feedback, the invoice, anything really to do with my account.

I wish there was somewhere else I could go but I need to clear out my house!

And yes familyfitz you have to include Paypal on all your listings...(except cars - or have I made that bit up?)

Yes, ebay have managed to turn it in to a fairly stressful/umpleasant experience for a lot of people. They seem to have attracted a lot of the lower form of life buyers, who send you uneccessarily rude messages the next day asking why haven't they received their item and how they will give you bad feedback, and then you find they've put in a paypal claim a couple of days later.

Yes you do have to offer paypal on all your auctions except for car and motor categories. Realistically to sell you do need a premier account so you can take all forms of paypal payments, and a premier account does mean you pay a fee for each payment received.

Despite what you rea don here it is not all doom and gloom, good stuff will still sell, although I think the days of being able to sell any old rubbish on ebay have gone. I actually gave up selling huge quantities well before the new rules kicked in, it was the pricing in proportion via Royal mail that killed my core business as my best selling lines were all very very light but large enough to go as packets and not large letters and my postage virtually tripled overnight and made it not cost effective within the UK anymore.

With the new changes I also gave up another line of mine as it did become complicated with buyers disagreeing about exact colours and sizes ..and as I was only making a pound or two at best on each item I gave up and concentrated on easier items .

On the last cheap listing day I listed lots of second hand stuff just from the house and sold virtually everything, including a 20 year old dress that I had loved but no longer suited me..that went for £29 which was far more than it cost back in the 1980s.

I've been selling on ebay for a year or so and most half-decent things will sell although it seems people are starting to tighten their belts and paying a lot less now. Good old credit crunch eh? That's good for buyers though. If you're looking for a bargain, then they can be had. The problem is that ebay takes its fees and paypal (who are owned by ebay) take their fees so, in effect, ebay takes double fees for everything you sell. You do end up paying so much in fees that you don't make that much, unless you've sold something that ended up being very popular! I guess that's why you're not getting much stuff for 99p or £1.50 these days. Ebay is still worth a visit now and again though. Recently, I got the complete series of Sapphire and Steel on DVD, new, for £24.00. Best price in the shops is about £60.00.

I won'r sell on ebay anymore after a person bought something of me by cheque took a month to send the money then left a very nasty comment of which I couldnt leave negative feedback.

So I though sod it, and now use a swap shop site where I can swap my tat or other peoples stuff.

I never was a big seller but usually had a few things on at a time
