Where have all the sellers gone? (little people like me)

OK as an occasional seller and more frequent buyer, I've noticed the tat-merchants (me included) are less prevalent than a few months ago.

Is this the new ebay paradigm?

And where do I go now to find the tat I used to get off ebay?

The strange thing is there's a thread on the Powerseller forum saying the opposite, that the big mixed sellers are going, leaving smaller ones and a car boot site.

There's always going to be movement of buyers and sellers and you can only judge from your own experience, which has been an increase in customers/sales over the past year.

Could it just be that most people have now finished their spring cleans/clearouts?

I have an old sofa on eBay for a tenner if you're interested! :D

Or if you want some smaller tat, you name it and I'll do my best to list it.

    my current listings..
    an old glass bottle
    1940s hospital sign
    2 computer games
    pair of brass taps
What's it going to be, eh?
  • I'm still listing nice tat but ebay seem to be becoming more focussed on large volume sellers at the expense of those who use the site like an on-line car boot sale.

Yes I've noticed there does seem to be less used items for sale.

Some searches/categories are almost entirely new items from business sellers

Lots of my searches turn up nothing now.
Many items are listed with a start price of £10 and above.
Lots of nice pics from professional sellers.

We'll see after the holidays are over and the darkness falls.

I don't know about just little sellers or big sellers, to me it seems as some items you can't get a look in as it seems to be all sellers from china or hong kong.:p
Never seem to be so many as now and good 'ol tat doesn't seem to exist as much anymore.

And yes I agree lots of new stuff being sold at not low prices - used to have loads of things starting at 99p - so exciting to have a bid and get something for under £1.50!!!!!!!! :D
Think I might have a rummage as I could have some decent tat to start selling maybe - could do with making a few quid if I'm lucky.

Yep- that's a sign of the eBay of the future.
