What do you mean by "when I go on to wifi?" - I'll assume you mean when you try to use the web browser.
the 3G logo does indeed signal it's using the mobile network. Wifi is a kind of 'flower' type symbol.
You need to set up an 'access point' for your wifi router on your phone with any security details, etc. then it will give you the choice of which access point to use (Orange, or wifi).
(BTW I know nothing about the N82 - but assuming it's a series60 smartphone like my E51 and 6120C)The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

i am actually using the wifi to type these messages(on the phone).i have taken the sim card out so it can not charge and it is an empty space were the 3g logo used to be. I dont want to have to take the sim out everytime though0

while in the browser do options -> settings -> general and change the access point setting to "always ask"The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!
