We found if you book a holiday on Tuesday after 11am or before 11am the following day the price can be cheaper. By doing this recently we saved about £200 in total to a holiday in Cape Verde. Never book one at the weekend as the prices goes up then drops back later in the week.
However I am sure you moneysaving experts know all this.0 -
If you are considering booking with teletext holidays, search the board for complaints about this company which used to be good but is now appalling .0

Its my personal experience that don't just settle for what a travel agent is offering for your holiday package if you want a good deal on your package. First research about your itinerary and then place your inquiry to at least five different tourism service providers and then compare the price and negotiate with them. You will certainly get the best deal. I wanted to book a tour package of golden triangle with Ranthambore National park for 4 persons and I placed inquiry to around ten tour agents which i found online. It a 7 day tour package so i discussed with them about hotels, vehicles, safari and many other things and finally settled for much lower cost than their initial offer and saved around 550 $.0

For the past few years I have used skyscanner and booking.com to try and get me the best deal. That was until today. I just happened to come across this website after a few years of not using it so thought I'd spend a bit of time on it. Glad I did. I used Momondo for flights and saved £120 on flights to Zakynthos, and saved around £90 on booking our hotel direct with the owners which was bed and breakfast rather than booking.com's room only. A saving of £210 which will not only pay for our car hire but will buy lunch for the week and we get breakfast. :money::j0

Hi Guys - Im a Travel Agent - Just be aware that Jet2Holidays have currently taken off the £100pp discount (since Monday 10/9/18) - This is just to meet ASA rules on on going offers and we Agents know it will be back in a week or two - so if booking a Jet2Holidays hang on until the discount is bacjk on - and if you find a holiday with them or Thomas Cooks etc post it in the Beat My Quote! Travel Agents Thread0
-
Or just avoid Jet2 and travel agents all together and DIY to save money.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Bit unfair that, off the back of a decent tip. I do tend to package - and drive a very hard bargain arbitraging many TAs, and I know the one that MATTR5 is affiliated to (assuming nothing has changed) has previously come in cheaper than I could price up the components myself. Especially with the Caribbean, where TAs seem to be able to get cheaper hotel deals than booking direct.
So by all means do the sums, but DIY isn't always cheapest.0 -
Its not always cheaper to package up yourself and my tip was valid - If you look at the Beat my Quote Thread you will see i have saved MSE members Thousands of pounds over the last couple of years0

Our last four holidays have been "packages" with some of the well known Operators. I think I am savvy enough to research and price up the components separately but on these last four occasions it has been cheaper to book as a complete package with TUI and Thomas Cook.0

Holiday websites such as Holiday Pirates, Icelolly etc are a scam. Be very careful. They deceitfully list holidays with "from" prices and when you book, it links you to other scam sites such as Voyage Prive where the holiday isn't a deal at all and the total cost is usually 3 times the amount quoted. Sites such as Holiday Pirates deliberately advertise to deceive customers since "From" prices could be literally anything from £0.50, but once you are tricked into the third party site, the actual cost is "from" £300.00.0
