selling pick up items on ebay

I have stayed away from ebay for a while (for a number of reasons), but have 7 doors and a trailer which I am trying to get rid of.
Is there any way around the having to accept paypal?? the items are pick up only and there is no way I will risk letting them go through paypal.
Thanks in anticipation.

As long as you state cash on collection in the payment details, it won't be a problem. I sold a car this way about 2 years ago and the people who won the bidding simply gave me the cash when they came to collect the car.0

Unfortunately things have changed and refusing paypal is no longer an option. Incidentally cars are still exempt, but all other items must be capable of being paid for by paypal.liitleblackcat wrote: »As long as you state cash on collection in the payment details, it won't be a problem. This problems has worried and concerned many of us and the pinks have actually stated that ebay might no longer be the correct venue for items that need to be collected. There have been lots of suggestions but the threads on the main forums suggest that anyone making statements even mild ones like' I prefer cash on collection' are likely to get their auctions pulled.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The vast majority of buyers who do collect items will offer to pay cash on collection anyway.
There also seems to be a growing number of these listings going through the "mutual withdrawal process" after the goods have been paid and collected....

So I can see why ebay want everyone to pay through paypal - make sure they get their fees.
Whilst that is quite understandable - I am happy to pay fees - until the process is less risky then I arent prepared to do it.0 -
I don't think there's much risk as a seller... you still get your money ahead of giving up the goods

The risk is on the buyer if they choose to send money before they've arranged to collect their purchase. Which is why most will prefer cash on collection

Same problem here. Last couple years I bought & sold a lot of small-value items on Ebay, including ahving a 'shop' for my handmade jewellery - but it is just not worth the effort any more with all the charges that E-Bay and Paypal make between them.
Now I want to sell my old trailer-tent - which obviously I am hoping will be collected! - but it's not worth a great deal and I am reluctant to pay all the fees for trying to sell it, so I'm going to advertise in the local paper and put up a postcard in the local shop instead.
As far as I can tell, loads of people are not using Ebay any more, and Ebay are cutting off their nose to spite their face............The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

You have overlooked the paypal chargeback possibility due to items having no delivery to track.
The paypal issue is why we sellers struggle to understand why ebay have forced us to take paypal on a collected item when paypal themselves say it is unsafe and should not be used for collected items.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The risk to the seller is that should the buyer say that they did not receive the goods, PayPal will refund unless the seller can provide tracking information (which they obvioulsy cant if the item was pick up only)
The trailer I want to sell should go for up to £200 - I cant take a risk on that sort of money.0
