Nokia 6630 - GPS?
Hi,
Being a complete 'newbie' at this sort of thing, I thought I'd ask here - sorry if it's not entirely the correct forum.
How do I get GPS on this device - Nokia 6630?
Do I have to buy a reciever and software seperately? Will it work with a standard bluetooth reciever and/or which ones are compatible?
Any help would be appreciated, as at the present time, whenever we drive anywhere we don't know very well, I use my old 233mhz laptop with a GPS reciever and an old version of Autoroute. It's a bit clunky and sometimes it takes so long to boot up Autoroute that we're halfway in the wrong direction before the GPS bit finds us :-)
Thanks in advance.

you need a bt gps unit - you can get these on ebay for about £60
you also need some s/w like tomtom
you can buy the complete kit from tomtom here:

Excellent thanks - I had no idea it would quite as expensive (when you add Europe etc...) - I may have top carry on with the trusty laptop for the time-being while I save up.0

I use navicore with my 6630 and am really pleased with it

It might be worth checking out this link over at the 3g forums. Some useful info on software, memory cards and GPS receivers that work well with the 6630
6630 and TomTom0 -
Thanks chaps (or chapess') - I was looking for a forum to read and post 6630 questions to but couldn't find one - hence posting here.
That Navicore looks good, but I can't find a price for it on their site.0 -
You can buy the tomtom5 software on ebay for around £5, then buy an mmc card 256mb for around £170
-
You can 'legally' buy it for this price?
I don't understand. I've seen prices of around 200 quid. Is it a skimmed down version for a fiver?0 -
Not sure if its legal or not, ebay don't seem to be pulling them though:

Its the full version but you also need a gps receiver - £54 and the mmc card for around £17 so that takes you up to £76 total.0 -
Thanks for that - it certainly seems OK to me.
I think to have GPS for a total of around 76 quid is a bargain really. Thanks very much for that ebay link.
Is it easy to buy/download maps of Europe do you know? I travel to France quite a lot, so ultimately I would need the French maps.0 -
Sorry I'm not sure about that!0
