Has anybody else had the CPW say that the IEMI sticker is not there so therefore they could not repair the phone? My sons was taken in for repair a few weeks ago and they came back with that reason as for the phone not being able to be reapired for free even thou it is less than 3 months old.
Aparently they have been done for this before
I've recently had several occasions of really bad customer service with CPW this being the last straw

I have heard this quite a bit recently, when phones have been sent in to them for repair, peoples phones have come back in a worse state and when they looked at the IMEI sticker under the battery it looked as if it had been taken off and stuck back on.0

They didnt even say in the shop that it had not been repaired. Meaning one very disappointed son when he thought he'd got his phone back.
In 02 today looking for a new phone which is when I found out about CPW problems. Aparently they have been buying phones cheap abroad and selling them here minus the IEMI sticker.
Its not something you think about checking if it has a silly sticker on it0 -
Is the phone that needs repair on the O2 network ? If it is send an email to complaints@o2mail.co.uk just say to them that you got the phone from the CPW and didnt realise the IMEI sticker was missing and that was needed or the warranty would have been void and see what they say. Just make sure you tell them that you have not removed the sticker yourself and it was removed by the CPW or before it was sold to you by the CPW. Also send the Complaints department the phone IMEI number, you can get this by pressing *#06# on the phone (If its in a working state to do that) or it will be on a sticker on the side of the box unless they removed that to.

I am pretty sure it is on the 02 network. Unfortunately the phone was not repaired by CPW so I am unable to get the IEMI number from the phone but it has it on the original receipt so am hoping the two match up.
Thank you

Firstly that is not true - O2 will've told you that as they want your custom, end of! Not all CPW are dodgy and i doubt very much that whoever sold you your phone has been told to remove the IMEI number as they can be found by keying in *#06# anyway. If you do have any problems with CPW i would suggest writing to their head office and sending it recorded delivery.0 -
I am already with 02 so they already have my custom. I have tried writing to CPW before not only to have my letter of complaint ignored but also not even acknowledged. I did not say that the person selling me the phone had taken the sticker off I said that they had been selling them minus the IEMI sticker they have already been found guilty of this by ofcom in the past so obviously some of them are dodgy0

Ok, firstly, its an IMEI sticker. Secondly, CPW do not sell phones without IMEI stickers, no mobile phone company does. Please can we give CPW some credibility by not accusing them of things that simply are not true.
If the handset switches on the IMEI can be retrieved by typing *#06#.
It is reasonable (if the IMEI can be confirmed this way), for the retailer to honour the manufacturers warranty, despite the fact that it is possible to electronically change the IMEI of a handset.
I have a new phone every 6 months or so, and in my time I have never worn a sticker out so that it become illegible. It amazes me how some people manage it. However if the sticker looks like it has been removed on purpose, that could indicate someone trying to have a phone repaired under a warranty that doesn't apply to that phone.
Its a judgement call on behalf of the retailer/engineer. But if the identity of the handset cannot be established, then I'm not surprised that a warranty repair wasn't honoured. It could be worse however, CPW don't charge under these circumstances, some mobile phone repair agents would charge under the same circumstances.
Imagine returning your 3 month old car to the dealer with a complaint with no plates on and no VIN number.0 -
That makes this organisation sound almost altruistic. A little generous considering the constant lies cpw O2, E2Save and other parts constantly spout. It would also be nice if occasionally (rather than "charging") the company actually repaired a phone at the first - or even second - attempt. Whilst their shops can be very helpful, I am loath to praise an organisation with such basic flaws and tend not to give them any benefit of the doubt (i.e. I look at them the way they look at their customers).0
