Attractive non-termination offer from T Mobile

I rang to cancel my current T Mobile contract (£23 for 100 mins pm - actually paying nothing as I got it all back up-front from Forward Cellular before they went bust).

I am a very low user and gave this as the reason for cancelling.

I was then offered 50 mins and 25 texts pm for £5 pm on the basis that if I wanted to exceed these limits I would have to top up as with a conventional PAYG phone.

Looking on the T Mobile website I see that this is the cheapest UFix tariff which is normally £15 p.m.

Pretty good I thought and probably better then the hassle of getting a new contract, which I could obviously get for nothing through the various cashback offers.

Any thoughts ?

PS I am now also allowed to terminate my existing contract one month early and will get back the £21 line rental already paid. So total net cost is £39 for 12 months with 50 mins and 25 text and NO CASHBACK HASSLE !!!

I have been offered 750 off peak xnet mins (18 month contract) at £10 for the first 12 months then £20 for the last 6 months, average £13.33.

I was also offered 300 xnet anytime mins (18 month contract) £19 for the first 12 months then £29 for the last 6 months.

But I'm still moving to Orange, as it works out cheaper (after cashback) for 1000 xnet mins at £9 a month on a 12 month contract, I wouldn't like to be tied down for 18 months.

If you are a very low user might it be a better idea to go to pay as you go?

Also I thought some people were getting a better deal than that a while back. As you say you could still get a free contract and a new phone on cashback, so long as they pay up.

I think people were offered the T-mobile off-peak 750 for about £50 for a year, but this was T-mob and landlines ony, not x-net as above.
