If I take a year out I will go straight onto the degree course after.

I have been garenteed a place on the degree starting september 2009.

I just don't know if I should take a year out or not!

But will that be a contiuation of the course? I know you say you are sure of a place but is that still a free place? Does taking a year out mean you still get it free as its not continuous.

    :T congrats mines a pint  .

Ok well thats that sorted out.

If i was you, id take advantage of as much free course as you can get.

Why do you need to move out of your b/f mums house at the end of the year?

I know you are eager to get moving on a place for you and your b/f but your education at your age should come first.

Kinda for personal reasons. Whatever happens we have to move out.

Im not to bothered about that really though, we will be financially comfortable, and as we have been together since we were 14 it will be nice to finally have our own space!

Plus both my boyfriend and I privately teach (me piano and him bass), so having our own place it will mean we can get a lot more students which will massively increase our income.

I think you have to decide what you want to do; but if I had been told I had a place on a degree course I don't think I would bother doing a lower course if my future was already sorted. I don't know what the adult learning grant is worth - but it surely can't be more than a year's full time wage. I am also a great believer in the value of employment when it comes to finding work after your degree, I think you would be in a better position having worked than having done an extra year which, from what you say wouldn't really challenge you.

My sister was a junior negoiator in a estate agent before she gave up her job to have children - she went straight in after office temping for a while and had the option to work part time; so there would be no reason for you to give up work totally at a later date if you wanted to continue studying - you could also do part time study and work if you wanted to stay doing that sort of thing. best of luck and hope you find something that suits you, cel x

    Thank you.

Yeah I agree with you on the benefits of employment. To many people today just go to uni just cause they think it will be fun!

    ALG is £30 a week.

I think I will continue to look for good jobs and fingers crossed I will find something! If nothing comes my way I will stay at college, but ideally a full time wage sounds lovley! :D

ACtually that is not correct - one of the best places for a music degree in the country is a local college near here - its not a univeristy and it offers access courses, BETc etc

    By whose definition of best?
