I think you may be a little confused (unless they have changed it ) but I though you got SMP for 39 weeks 6 weeks at 90% and then the final 33 standard rate I know it's not much but every little helps
don't forget you also get your child benefit and child tax credits

oh thanks - I thought it was just 26 weeks. I included child benefit. We won't get even a sniff of tax credits on our salaries. We both earn really well, we're just having to pay off having already having enjoyed some of the benefits of having a high earnings potential...

I am ssssstressssed here with my DS who is refusing to eat. He won't be spoonfed, and he won't pick up anything and eat it either.

Erm - I would leave him to it - once he's really hungry I imaging he'll come tohis senses:confused: ..... I get the feeling it might be easier when its not your own you're dealing with. Just remind me in a couple years time when I'm having the same problem:rotfl:

Oh and Keren your tattoo sounds lovely, I am getting the fever from you all now and wondering what I could have done, and where...
I've got all sorts all over the place... best thing to do is to nip into a tattooists and either talk to them or have a look through the flash books and see if anything grabs you. :)

Don't forget the 33 weeks paid at SMP rate - the standard rate from 6 April 2008 is £117.18 per week - will increase each tax year. And if you do go back, get childcare vouchers from work. This is with my work & HR hat on!

Another daft question (bear in mind I am a tax professional, albeit corporate...) - Do I pay tax on SMP?
