Hello,
Please can someone help me, looking to go away in the school summer holidays for 2/3 weeks? Ideally I would like to all flights accomodation and car hire for under £1200 each if possible, any ideals or suggestions most welcome as we are open to go anywhere, here are some of the places we would like to go and have found so far...
My ideal choice would of been a tour of Las Vegas San Fran and Los Angeles, only problem being i cant find any direct cheap flights for this destination, (flying to any of the three and driving inbetween)
the next "deals" we have found have been on teletext holidays,
barbados for under £700
maldives for £850
Sri Lanka for around £850 (but all inclusive)
Goa for around £850
Tobago for £720
St Kitts for £720
Antigua for £730
Grenada for £740
the rest of the prices are mainly room only and bnb, but its more the place we cant decide on!
I am aware some of these places have hurricaine risks and maldives / sri lanka are rainy season but as my girlfriend is a teacher we have to go at these times!!
any other suggestions /inspirations and pointing in the right direction would be much appreciated!
Many thanks
Tux

have you had a look at virgins 'king of the western road' fly drive, you go to
LA
palm springs
lake havasu
grand canyon
las vegas
yosemite
san fran
it includes flights to and from the US, car hire and accommodation on route, I was looking at doing it this year and for 2 adults and 2 children it was about the 4 k mark so you may well be able to get it for 2 adults at your budget
only thing I think you need to check is the driving distances and when I was looking into it one leg was over 300 miles which is not a problem but not great fun for the kids, but there again, I may have got it all wrong as I was having a bit of a mare with the route finder
you can also change hotels about with virgin as some of the hotels such as the nautical inn does not have good reviews so you can change it to something else as long as they are on their books0 -
"Goa for around £850"
In the summer hols? Take your brolley! Its predominantly a winter destination due to the monsoon.0 -
What about a last minute cruise?0

cheers everyone so far!,
Poe your idea sounds great i will give Virgin holidays a call sometime tomorrow for a price,
davey, I knew Goa was rainy season but didnt realise monsoons!! i thought it just rained for a few hours then was sunny again?
Kez, Cruising is cool, been on one before (QE2) to all the canary islands was nice but would like to do somewhere else, can you recommend any that goes to italy greece etc as ive never been there, and also one that is less formal?
Thanks for the suggestions Keep um coming, any views on the Caribbean in August?0 -
agree with the cruising.
Try Oceanvillage / Thomson Cruise / Island cruises
We went on one a few years ago and went to .........tunisia, rome, monte carli, Florence and Barcelona.
We are hoping to go next year to one that takes in Greece Island , Venis and Croatia.
We went on the Destiny which is owned by Thomson and was informal as are the others I lsited.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
I have been to mexico in august, it was hot but fab, one of my fav places of all times, loved the food, the culture and people
let us know what happens with virgin tomorrow, their website no longer gives prices so I would be interested to know how much it is for adults0 -
Ocean Village had a 14 night fly cruise on offer the other day - try Gills cruises, Cumbria Cruises, cruises.co.uk for more info - come back if you want a company recomendation as I have only used Gills and not actually been yet - just booked a late half price summer holiday cruise myself.0
-
Have a look at Mercury Direct's holidays to Bali or Mauritius, also check Travelzoo to links for lots of offers.0

wow what an unproductive evening!!
spoke to Virgin, the problem is that because we can only go in the school holidays it makes everything alot more expensive!!
the price came out at about £1500!!
might have to book in advance and do the L.A SAN FRAN VEGAS next summer with a few friends.
now im more interested in the caribbean or cruises. will have to do a search to find the most casual
im not big on dressing up, been on the QE2 and it was a bit too formal for me, even on the informal nights there was nowhere to escape if you did want to dress down because everyone else were smartly dressed!.
many thanks guys!0 -
what about something different, you won't need much money as all meals etc are included
