I bought Bar Keeper's Friend for cleaning the Remoska lid, following advice either here or on another forum, I don't know. It didn't work to remove a couple of very burnt on stains (like where a plastic bag melted on the lid and some bits stuck fast!) but it did remove lesser stains without scouring.

It costs 1.99 for a small bottle in Lakeland and is a white powder that becomes a paste when you add water.

Not a complete solution but not a bad product overall. :)

Am feeling very sad and agitated as my Remoska is broken!!!

OH plugged it in to put Jacket spuds on and it tripped the electric whatever plug we used. Phone Lakeland who are sending a replacement out straight away. Then I need to return the old one in the new box after.

Feel completely lost and hope it comes before Sunday as I love cooking my roast in the Remoska.

    Hope it arrives soon :T

I'm planning to have roast chicken and roast potatoes tonight.

Is there any way I can cook them both in the remoska?

I'm still learning how to cook in it so I want to double check.

    Thanks :p

There is a video on the Lakleand website (can be clunky watching/downloading) which 'demonstrates' cooking chicken and roast veg. Can be easy to overlook. Go to lakeland, Remoska, Standard, then under the picture on the right 'see a demo video'.

Also on the Remoska website you will see pictures of the same under 'users pictures'

Thanks for that DC, Hmmm, decisions decisions. The remoska does seem rather expensive but it looks more robust. It's a shame that all the accessories need to be bought separately

    Don't buy the 'accessories'!

Use scrunched up foil instead of a rack, to lift food out of any fat/oil, or a upturned pyrex/oven proof dish instead of a shallow pan to get closer to the heating element for quicker cooking(pizza), and use foil parcels of food instead of a separator.

Now that is a 'moneysavingexpert' tip.

Cookingin a Remoska I have noticed how much 'orrible gunk comes out of pre prepared food like 'meatballs', meat burgers, sausages and all... horrendous. Don't buy 'em. Makes you realise and makes you eat healthier!

    I'm curious.

How long had you had your Remoska?
    Grande/Baby/Standard?
Have you had a new electric box fitted recently?
Did the fuse in the Remoska plug not blow/need changing?
Seems odd if you had it for a while to deveolp this fault all of a sudden...

    Something odd going on...
...then again my 'digital' tv signal comes and goes... but don't get me on that one! Seriously not happy! They said it wouldn't cost us anything... oh really! All recording equipment now has to have the pink tick, you can buy a 'freeview' box (three later)... a new digital enabled TV or /and get a new TV aerial! Easy change over my...Ricky Tomlinson! And.. And...

If you're thinking of a halogen, comparing it with a Remoska, remember a halogen uses at least 1300w.

    A Standard Remoska 470w and a Grande 650w.
Depends how often you use it what the difference in electricity use (cost/saving) would be. An hour a day for 183 days (half the year) halogen use would equate to a full year (every day, 366 days) using a Grande Remoska, even more days use for the Standard... if you see what I mean... using the same amount of electricty. I THINK! don't take my word for it, sure someone else can help out.
Dunno what the versatility rating is... can you do stews, soups, pizza, baking, ect etc in a halogen as you can in a Remoska???. I dunno.

I don't know how many of you have tried the pastry on the thread 'The Best Mince Pie Pastry Ever' but I just did in my remoska (thanks npsmama). For those of you who haven't and who do not already have a favourite recipe, then I urge you to try it. I don't even like Christmas mince pies. Or at least I didn't! However, I made some earlier and thought I better taste them. I really wish I hadn't!!! They are utterly moreish and I have already devoured 2 of the 7 I made. I halved the quantity (8oz flour etc.) and only cooked half the mixture so the other half is sitting in the fridge to use tomorrow (or more likely this evening at the rate I am eating them). The pastry is so so crumbly. I used the red fluted silicone muffin cases (for the first time) that were being sold in Lidl a few weeks ago and the pies slipped out beautifully.
I made some tonight in the silicone cases......they are so yummy!!! :D
  • has any one found a loaf tin which will fit in the standard, non of mine fit, nor does my silicone one.

My friend got me one from Home Bargains and that fits perfectly. It is red silicone.

EDIT: Sorry, mine is the Grand. :o

If it fits in the standard I presume it is only a 1lb one.
