I saw one of the halogen ones in the Sunday supplement for about £50. Does anyone know if they are any good? They can't be better than the Remoska cay they?

A friend of mine has just bought the halogen oven, from a shopping channel around £30 I think. All reports are good so far, sounds very similar to remoska ie she said roast chicken was perfect and roasties good if a little soft.

  • Thanks for that DC, Hmmm, decisions decisions. The remoska does seem rather expensive but it looks more robust. It's a shame that all the accessories need to be bought separately

mudgekin - I was in the same dilemma as you a while ago and decided to go for the Remoska. Am really pleased that I did as it is definitely saving us some money on our electricty consumption. There are usually on 2 of us and I went for the grand - really glad I did as I use it nearly every day.

Decision made, thank you so much. It has been the grande I have been toying with as I dont want to get the standard one than have regrets I didn't get the grande. :j

Now I just have to write my letter to Santa and leave it on DH's pillow :rotfl:

I'm planning to have roast chicken and roast potatoes tonight.

Is there any way I can cook them both in the remoska?

I'm still learning how to cook in it so I want to double check.

    Thanks :p

  • Mudgekin,

Go for the grande. I have the standard and sometimes wish I had gone large even though it is just me in the week. I do love it though.
  • Am feeling very sad and agitated as my Remoska is broken!!!

OH plugged it in to put Jacket spuds on and it tripped the electric whatever plug we used. Phone Lakeland who are sending a replacement out straight away. Then I need to return the old one in the new box after.

Feel completely lost and hope it comes before Sunday as I love cooking my roast in the Remoska.

I only post here occasionally but read every day and love the hints, tips and recipes. I wanted to thank Organic Wanabe for the scone recipe posted the other day. I tried it and it really does make the best scones ever so, thanks for sharing it! I can thoroughly recommend the recipe for the Remoska. I made two batches of seven from the ingredients specified; the first batch took 20 minutes and the second took 15, because the Remoska was already hot.

Thanks again - the scones will become a regular in our house.

On the subject of scones, I added a dollop of mincemeat to the Remoska recipe the other day and they were delicious!

    225g SR flour
    I tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    40g margarine
1 dollop mincemeat (about 1 tbsp)
    milk to mix

Sift flour, bp and salt and rub in marg until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the mincemeat in mini dollops and stir around with a knife until incorporated in the mix. Add milk to make a soft dough, then roll out and cut into rounds. Bake in the Remoska until golden.
