Startup code unlocking. Help?

About a year ago now I bought a W850i. My sister thought it would be a 'joke' to put in a random code. She didn't think much to it, til I turned it off. It is now asking me to give a 1-8 digit code to start the phone up. Does this mean that it is broken? Or is there any code that I can unlock it?
Regards
Laura

It sounds as if its the security code for it, not sure if there is any free software to do this for the S.E Phones, if you contact MSE Member gaming_guy he should be able to point you in the right direction.
  • I don't know how do I find him/her?
I'm new to this site and unsure what to do?

EDIT: no need to PM me now ive seen this thread, just follow what i have written below and it should reset the usercode for you

if you have the data cable for the phone, you can get SEtool2lite from here and the usbflash driver from here.

once you have the software (and have extracted the files), take out the sim card/memory stick and reinsert the battery but DO NOT switch the phone on.

now find the folder that you extracted the usbflash drivers into and right click the .inf file and click install

open up SEtool2lite and press the identify button (down the side of the programs window) > now plug the usb cable into your computer. once you have done that, hold down 'C' on the phone and plug the cable into the phone and setool2lite should start reading info from the phone. somewhere in that info you should see USERCODE : (your code here, or 0000 if it has reset it). that is the code that you need, so disconnect the phone and take out and reinsert the battery and power up the phone, then when it asks, enter the code.

you should now hopefully have a working phone :)
  • So I have to download both of them?
I've downloaded the USBFLASHdriver but the SEtool2lite is said to take over 8hrs...Is this normal?

Why don't you just update the software using SE software update? It should remove the code???

no, SEUS wont remove the code as its stored in the gdfs of the phone and seus only flashes the main.

whatever you do dont use SEUS if you have a db2020 phone (eg w850/k810/w580 etc) as it will upgrade them to CID53 which most free flashing tools dont support them yet
