  • Hiya guys coming to the end of my bankrupcy and just want a shout out to a company called "think banking" who 1 week before bankrupcy offered me a normal account with a normal debit card, telephone banking (can only check balance) and after using for nealry a year think they are spot on.....

no credit check required, you get a proper debit card with embosed numbers and a proper Maestro card that works and looks exactly like a natwest one....

1 month in a mentioned the account on this site and had the all the normal doommunger shouts of "I wouldn't pay £12" a month for an account" and It's a rip off.....but if you want a proper bank account with proper facilities and a proper account then go to there site

The only thing they haven't got is a internet banking...

Hmm £12 a month account fee & a £25 setup fee?? as well as an extra £5 a month for additional cardholders.....Co-op and barclays do the same for free and they are both "proper" accounts & the co-op has internet banking as well....accounts like this cash in on the fact your BR not worth it in my mind to be honest

Frosty that was one of the reasons for starting this thread. I wanted to find out if companies will deal with people like us but also to see if there attitude changes and these costs come down. Also its a good place for people to look for companies who will offer services even if that is at a price.

companies like that though prey on the fact of your poor credit rating....I very much doubt their attitude changes or the costs of these accounts come down....if people are coming here to look for services like this they'll be sadly misinformed when there are banks out there offering the same services for NIL the last thing someone needs thats BR or discharged from Br is more debt with an account like this

I dont disagree so maybe this thread helps int both ways then. Shows the good companies like the ones that dont charge but also show those companies that offer a service but with cost.

I for one welcome them on here as i would rather choose not to use them but at least on here people get a chance to see the fors and againsts.

This sounds really good Dez! I must admit I have been put off by the thought of paying for the card, paying to top it up and a percentage for transactions on top so this one sounds better for me. (and yes, I know I would have been paying more than this on my previous VISA cards but this is the newer thiftier me :) ) Mind you we have been using other half's capital one card like a prepay visa and he only has a £200 limit due to a rubbish credit rating (though not as bad as mine!)

Sorry, I couldn't find the other thread so I've started again.

So, now here's a surprise. We wanted to ditch Tiscali for our BB/phone (long story) so only option was BT, I assumed we'd have to pay a massive deposit & reconnection charge, BUT we've had no problem whatsoever. We went through the 'come back to BT' link on the website, so no reconnection charge, and they only restriction on our account is £75 per month call limit, well chuffed!

And then on to O2 broadband, just had that activated too, Mr P is a PAYG customer so we've got the £7.50 a month package, again thought we'd get rejected due to the credit check, but no, no problem at all, we applied yesterday, router is arriving tomorrow, going live on Monday.

Well done to BT & O2

    thats great to know.

Can i ask did you owe BT in your BR?? Sadly they are one of my creditors. Due to DD failing and them billing me 18 months BB and line rental plus calls.
