Phone4u and Cashback Deals
It is time to find a new 12 months contract as I am in the last month of my O2 contract with e2Save. Regardless of very strict and tricky terms this time I have successfully received my 4th claim a few days before. I have a very good spell of successful cashback claims with e2Save.
However a very good deal is available from Phone4u at the moment.

It is a Samsung G600 on O2 400 £35 for 12 months contract with 11 months line rental at £1.99. This makes it a £363.11 cashback deal. E2Save do not have any competitive deal at present.
What is the record of Phone4u in cashback claims? Any experience and comments will be highly appreciated.
Another point to note is that e2Save and Carephone Warehouse’s O2 contracts phones are always unlocked. What is practice of Phone4u in this matter? Do they supply locked or unlocked phones? Please share your experience and knowledge with me.
Thanks

Phones from Phones4u can be hit or miss with regard to SIM locking. Sometimes they are locked and sometimes they aren't, it depends on the model. I don't know specifics as I haven't bought a phone in nearly a year, but sometimes 4u stock carrier-supplied phones which are enarly always locked and branded. An example is if you buy a phone from 3, who insist on providing all the phones sold on their tariff (which are all locked and chock full of 3 branding)
Generally, your safest bet is to choose a model you know you can't get direct from the carrier. This means 4u had to source the handset from somewhere else and it's not likely to be locked.
The Samsung G600 you're interested in is carried by practically all the carriers. 4u might thus be stocking generic (unlocked) handsets to sell as they can pair them up with any SIM pack. Fairly good chance of getting an unlocked handset.0
