PAC Query: T-Mobile --> Vodafone

Hi there :)

I want to keep my number when my T-Mobile contract ends on 6th September and I order a new Vodafone contract. However, as Vodafone give you your minutes and texts on the 1st of the month, not the date you ordered the contract, I was going to order from their website on the 1st September (to get best value for money!), and enter my PAC when ordering online.

My T-Mobile contract ends on the 6th of September. My only concern is that when I give Vodafone my PAC, what happens to my T-Mobile service? As my contract will still have a few days to go, will it just end early, as I have already paid for the last month so they cannot charge me?

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Thanks for your help!
-Tom :)

    When you get a PAC from T-Mobile they provide it over the phone and it is valid for 30 days. If you do not use it within 30 days your T-Mobile contract will continue and you would have to get a new PAC from them.

    When you give the PAC to Vodafone, after 2 days the number will be switched over to Vodafone and your T-Mobile sim will be cancelled. You will recieve a final bill 14 days after the cancellation of your T-Mobile sim outlining if you owe them any money or if you are due a refund (it varies depending the exact dates you do it).
    I accept no liability if you chose to rely on my advice.

    Hi Tom

    I'm glad that your moving to Vodafone :-)

    Your correct stating that we allocate your minutes/texts on the 1st of the month. If you connect part way though the month, you get a pro-rata allocation of minutes/texts. The same goes for your line rental, so you still get the same value for money. So if you connect half way though the month for example, then you will have half the number of minutes and texts and also you will pay for half a month's line rental.

    I asked vodafone today and they said the number needs to be ported at the start of the contract (eg I wanted to give them PAC two weeks later), so make sure what you plan to do is doable.
