Hi!
Am with Virgin broadband (£9.99 bundle with free evening weekend calls)
About 2 months ago it started playing up. Most days it takes forever to get connected and then whatever I am doing, it disconnects all the time. It says there is no dial tone when the phone is working perfectly well.
My main phone line is in kitchen and my computer upstairs in bedroom.
I have splitters on both phones and have tried taking the phones out as the upstairs one runs off a extension. No difference!
It's driving me mad. if it disconnects now I will have to write this all over again as I have done many times. Urgggh! HELP

Sorry, I know absolutely nothing about computers so here goes:
I have a modem from Virgin -Speedtouch USB ADSL PPP. When I connect it "sometimes" comes up with the box to connect as if I were pay as you go.
I only started having the problem a couple of months ago, it was perfectly O.K up to then. I have done a system restore to try and take it back but it's the same.
Could it be a faulty modem (the lights are on ok) or a faulty splitter?
When I first try to connect it looks for proxy server - are my settings wrong?
Am rubbish at this!0
