    Have clicked on that and it just takes me back to the insert password page,so no further forward,but thanx for yours and others help.

    I suspect that the vista admin account is disabled, otherwise you should get a choice to login as windows admin.

    If there nothing on there that you really wish to keep then you could try a restore - alot of laptops come with a restore CD, pop it in the drive and restart the laptop and the system will rebuild afresh. NOTE: all your data will be erased.

    or you could try one of the password hacks available out there.

    Yipee inserted product recovery disk and its now up and running.

    use the utility in windows and create a password recovery disk - should save you hastle if your son forgets his password in the future.
