Thank you all for your replies. I think someone misunderstood.... the lads are friends with some lads who live on our street, not my friends lad, thank god in a way! hehe. I hadn't heard of an anti-social behaviour unit, will try and see if they can help. I know it sounds silly but I'm scared that if we start to stick up for ourselves by starting a neighbourhood watch, etc then they are just going to get worse and cause us even more trouble. Any noise I hear outside, i'm worried they're doiing something else to our car... I've started blind twitching!!! lol.

What?! So your not even going to stand up for yourself? This is why kids get away with murder these days!

    Agreed!

Yes, tell your friend their child is mixing with the 'wrong type', and maybe held as an accessory to possibly other misdoings in the future. Any good parent will have a word with the child, and the child will probably dissuade others from touching your car.

Regarding the car that scraped yours. If you have the registration number, hand it over to your insurers and put in a claim against them. Your insurers will be able to find out who theirs is.
  • Proximity alarms will just cause more damage and annoyance. As soon as the kids realise what you have, they'll be setting it off for fun.

OK, a proximity detector on one of those mosquito yob alarms, so it only is heard by teenagers :)

It's not that i don't want to stand up for myself, but the lads are very intimidating! There is always a large crowd of them, if you were to say something to them I don't know what else they would do to our property. I am talking to the police, etc but to say something to their face may just end up with us in a worse situation. If they didn't know where I live then i know I wouldn't have a problem giving them a piece of my mind :o I don't think I am personally responsible for kids getting away with murder these days though! I am a mum with a young baby and was just asking what other steps I could take

Thank you for all of your replies.

    Wonder if this could apply

    25 Tampering with motor vehicles

That's just the sensor. I got one off Ebay from the US delivered for about £25. I find it occasionally false alarms.

What an interesting idea. I wonder if http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ULTRASONIC-GENERATOR-INSECT-REPELLER-MOSQUITO_W0QQitemZ140249614147QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item140249614147&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318 would do the job. It has the correct frequency range, but only 100db (most car alarms are about 120db) - although it does have a connector for an extra speaker. See http://www.freemosquitoringtones.org/ for details of frequencies.
