My sister's old phone is dying and she wants a new smaller one. She wants to put her old Orange sim card in the new phone. She just wants the basics - no camera, 3G etc.
Can you help?
Thanks

This has been well reported on here but go to http://shop.o2.co.uk/student then select 'all phones' then 'pay as you go'. They have a Nokia 6030 for £29.99. Comes locked to orange but free to unlock using the advice in the 'unlock for free' postings in this forum.
A cracking phone for the money, nice small size, easy to use, great colour screen. No bells and whistles, does the basics very well.
You dont need any proof of being a student to buy from this link.
Hope this helps.

Id have a look at virginmobile they have some good deals on phones you can unlock easily and come with £15 credit. Site still isnt working though.

I posted this earlier, but the post got deteted. Is my sig the problem, cos its honestly ridiculous if it is. Im not providing a direct link to maketradefair so a bit of common sense wouldnt go a miss. Displaying the name of a charitable website is obviously a big no no, as I had the last two removed by 'ad something'. sigh. A bit over the top me thinks. :rolleyes:0 -
an easier way to buy an unlocked phone is carphonewarehouse I work for them about 90% of the phones we sell are unlocked e.g motorola c115 £25 on orange but in fact the phone is unlocked so you could use up the credit on orange then put your sim in it or if you are an existing orange customer they can upgrade you onto the phone ie they would trasnfer your number from the old sim to the new one.
Hope this helps.
this includeds £10 top up
£14.99 for phone
£10 top up.Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0 -
the problem with Carphone warehouse is that their cheapest PAYG offers in the Window have a hidden minimum top up requirement....ie phone price in window is £19.99 but you have to buy £10 top-up so REAL price is £29.99

I agree however as I said there phones are unlocked saves the hassle of trying to unlock a phone nokias are easier but motorolas can be a bit difficult.
and also if you unlock your phone while it is in warranty this voids the warranty unless it is the manafacturer or network who unlock it.Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0 -

There was a thread on this recently where lots of people reported that when they had problems with unlocked phones they just took it to the manufacturer rather than the network, and they were not bothered and happily fixed them.itsarichmansworld wrote:and also if you unlock your phone while it is in warranty this voids the warranty unless it is the manafacturer or network who unlock it.0
