I hope your feeling better
what about making a list of all the thing you are free to do now you couldn't do when he was around... having a 2 hr bath, watching what you want on tv etc ...might help looking at the positives
also a list of all the things you want to do by the end of the year...learn new language, skydive whatever floats your boat and then tick them off as you do them
Think positive, think how strong you've been to end it, you sound like you've been through hell but your surviving and whatever doesn't kill you make you stronger
good luck in your quest
p.s from a list addict !!! can you tell:rotfl:Busy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:0 -
I did have a 'list' when we first split up but that was all the reasons why I didn't want to be with him, there were hundreds, and it worked wonders!! I might try a list about me though and see how that helps. thank youDebt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80

Well here we are a week later and I would just like to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who gave me some hugs and support and good advice this time last week. I have no idea what I would have done without you x x x x
I am pleased to say that my strong belief in Karma has paid off big time. I found out yesterday that the ex has been dumped by his new girlfriend for being equally as horrible and violent to her as he was to me. Amazing isn't it?
Still love him, still kinda feel an ickle bit like I want to hug him better but the strong and hard-faced me is back and laughing uncontrollably at him proving himself to be the !!!! I always said he is.
Again, thank you everyone x x xDebt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80

Hi I've just read your thread and although I don't know I feel SO relieved that you are no longer with him. You should be so proud staying strong when it happened and not going back to him because at that time he must have left you in a weak state so it would have been easier to go back than to leave. You should be proud of yourself too for getting your children out of that atmosphere as watching it can sometimes be worse.
Good for you

I know, I was just feelinmg stupid for allowing this creature to upset me again!
I still have the photo, and I have looked at it since, but I've put it away with the rest and I can now think exactly the same about this photo as I do the rest of them, it was in the past and glad it's all over.
It just took me by surprise last week beacuse I didn't expect to see it. When I am in the right frame of mind I sometimes like to look back on these photographs, he was a very big part of my life for a very long time and I will never forget him and never stop loving him but I know I am better off without him and 9 times out of 10 can deal with it. Sometimes it's nice to look back and remember some of the greatest times in my life and remind myself of why they also became the worst.
I am feeling so much stronger and more confident and also a lot better that he has now proved me right yet again.
I am just hoping that before much longer I will be able to put it behind me for good and move on and be happy again. I can't wait to feel that pang of excitement that turns into love again once I meet the right person.Debt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80

Don't be hard on yourself for getting upset, even though he was abusive like you say he was in your life for a long time so the fact he is not in your life at all anymore is like suffering a bereavement. Which is probably why you can sometimes looked at the photo and be ok and others be upset, that is how we usually feel when someone dies and in some ways to you he has. You have been going through a grieving process and its clear from your posts that you know you will come out the other side feeling at peace with it.

Glad you're feeling better hun.
I had an ex who sounds a lot like yours. I walked away before he could do anything physical, but I was petrified of being on my own. I've now been with the most wonderful man for 2 and a half years, and he loves and supports me with everything (including debt). I'm a big believer of karma as well, and Mr Right will be along soon. In the meantime, enjoy being you and have fun with your friends. (You'll miss those times when the OH is playing on the Wii, mind you I'm having an affair with everyone on DFW  )

If I find a OH with a wii he'll have to (play) fight me to get on it!!
But even then I will never abandon those who were so good to me on DFW!Debt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80
