    Hi!

Can anyone give me an idiots guide to a door hanger? Going to attempt my first this week, but want some tips on how to make it look good. Few questions:

What do you use to stick the paper down with?
How do you cut the paper so it will fit properly?
    Anything else I should know?

I used MDF hangers (bought mine on ebay), scrapbooking 12x12 paper, a craft knife and mat, Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive (liquid glue).

I stuck the paper to one side of the hanger and then cut round it. The repeated on the other side. You need a craft knife to get as neat a finish as possible round the edges.

You can always cover minor nicks or tears with an embellishment.

Does that help? Please shout if you have more questions :D

:confused:Minds gone blank.................I've got a door hanger I covered in dark turquoise paper last year and didn't use it........want to use it for sons partner as she's started working nights now so needs some 'Mum time' and I'm mind boggled about what embelishments to put on it. Have to be careful otherwise two year old grandson will take them off and eat them:eek:
Any ideas ? Her birthdays in September and I'll done her shoe box apart from this.

    Bumpety bump!!

I found 3 door hangers and decided I would re make one each for the children. I need to use 12x12 paper on them as they are taller than 8 inches high which kind of screwed up my original idea!!

So, I guess what I am asking is what could I decorate them with? I have some plain ish papers in both boy and girl tones but need to think about decoration!! I thought about stamping an image but I really don't see it lasting on a door hanger!!

Can anyone give me any good suggestions? DD is nearly 3 and DS is not far off 8.

  • Thanks to the A-Z I came across the Door hangers and I have managed to make one which looks pretty good! I'm so pleased! I've not decorated yet I don't want to ruin it so I shall take my time in picking what embelishments to use! I will post a pic once finished.

I bought some 3d stickers from home bargains which had animals on and used them on my grandaughters hangers ,so far they have stayed on and not fallen off . They also had letters but depending on the childs name you may have to buy a few packs
  • Well I have finished my first door hanger, I've posted a pic on my blog if anyone wants a look x
