Thanks for all the info.
Unfortunately with us going in the caravan with the children and dogs, we probably won't use the pubs but I will have a look anyway. I don't really want a 12 month contract as we already have access at home and this is the only time we'll need it (until next year) so will look into the PAYG type options. I need it on the laptop rather than just internet on the phone really. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
As i said, £49 for the skype phone, topped up with £10 credit, £5 i think for the month of unlimited internet on your laptop.
Quoted from another thread:Not sure if it's ever been different, but I have a Skypephone which I use as a modem for my computer. It came with a USB cable to connect to the computer and a disc with modem software (plus data sync software).
I have the £5 unlimited use add-on (which I understand is subject to a fair use policy of 1 gig of data so you'll still need to be careful) but if you're just checking email etc it's essentially free.
I get a speed of 115.2k which isn't too bad.
If you don't have the USB cable and software then I would look into getting hold of them.
EDIT: also just had a look at the PAYG modem's http://threestore.three.co.uk/PAYG/?id=826 not sure how much the data cost for them are, probs the same?0 -
Hmm but the spec on that phone mentions nothing about connecting to a laptop via usb. And little info seems to be around on how to make the Skype phone work as a usb modem.0

But you don't need a dongle - if your phone can access the internet you can use it as a modem for your laptop. That's what I do
