Internet on the go (well on holiday)

We're in the process of booking a few holidays (UK) in the caravan and was wondering about mobile internet. The sites we're staying on only one has wifi and it's £5 a day which seems a little expensive for a shared connection. We'll be away on and off for a month. I help with several charities and support group stuff so being offline for a long time is a bad idea, I could do with maybe being able to access the internet an hour a day (if not more)
Anyway, I have been looking around and places seem to do these 'mobile internet dongle' things, which I haven't got much of a clue about (read loads but it's been going over the top of me tbh) just wondering what would be the best way to do it, we'll probably need access for a month, then the same again next summer hols.
So anyway, looking for advice on what is the best value for money when it comes to using internet when I am away, preferably not too technical
Any help/advice appreciated.

What mobile network are you with?0

I read somewhere that you buy a skypephone form 3 on pay as you got for £40
Top up £10
Then buy add-on which is £5 a month for unlimited data or something.0 -

You can add internet on your partners mobile. unlimited is £10 a month you can cancel this when your back home. Its not very fast but will do ok for emails etc and is dependant on network strength so if your goin to the wilds of lake district or something consider that too. Those dongles your talking about have a minimum 18 month contract so I wouldn't bother.

We use a mobile broadband dongle on 3 network it costs £15 a month on a 12 month contract (we dont use the 3 network for our phones).
I have found it to be really good and although its not as fast as normal broadband its pefectly acceptable for web browsing and e-mailing. I haven't used it for more than a few days a month but have come no where near the download limits allowed. On the whole I would recommend it, maybe you can get a better deal than this now.0 -
3 dongles are now down to around £35. No contract and top up with 1GB for £10 which expires after a month. If your caravan is somewhere remote you may get a slow connection however as it will drop back to gprs system not 3g.0

If there's one anywhere near (and functioning) then a FON hotspot might be of use...
http://maps.fon.com/
You need to sign up for an account but access is free for 15 mins, cost of an sms for an hour, or €3 for a days access. Or just buy one of their la fonera routers and you'll have permanent free access. They're few and far between at the moment though (technically BT homehub owners should allow access too, but there's no maps to show you where they are
).
edit: there's more listed here:
http://www.beta.bt.com/apps/openwifi/secure/hotspots.do?s_cid=con_FURL_btfon/hotspots
except... a lot of them are openzone hotspots which won't allow access. so you kinda have to subtract the results of http://btopenzone.hotspot-directory.com/ from the above

You could always just spend an hour in a pub that provides free wifi every day !
