Considering there doesn't seem to be any colour other than natural wood in that venue I would think you could have any colour scheme... Including purple if that was what you wanted...

The hearts on the chair backs are a lovely touch!

    Hi Clairac,
I would decide what colour dress I wanted ie white / ivory/cream etc and then ask h2b what colours he would like (waistcoats). Or more importantly, which colours he would not wear. Men can be very awkward!
Then, the season might have a bearing on colours. "Warm" or "cool" for example
Then, it would be a matter of colours you like and what matches skin tone, hair etc.
If you flick through Bridal mags, I think you would find that you are drawn to certain colours repeatedly without having a colour in your mind.
    Go with your instinct.
  • 'colour you like' - well, there's the problem.

I had my wedding 4 weeks ago - my OH did a cracking job with the colours:

Even though my OH doesn't like yellow gold, we decided the most appropriate match would be creams/golds. A month before, a couple used purple as a theme.. you can see how badly that would work in that venue.

Some people just have shocking tastes :)

    Thats beautiful,the chairs look great.
I just started off with my favourite colour and took it from there.
My favourite colour and wedding colour scheme is PURPLE:eek: .:rotfl:
I am having a highland wedding so am having the colours of the highland glen as my inspiration, purple, lilac, lots of rich green foliage and white too.

Claireac - don't worry about doing things early, if you get your colour scheme sorted you are part way there.

BTW you can now get burnt orange freesias - its a new colour this year and they are absolutely fab (I know because I bought some from my local florist and kept them for 2 weeks until they were totally dead) - they don't seem to have a smell though more is the pity.

    Good luck with your wedding.

Thats the trouble with hybrid flowers, the perfume is rarely preserved...

We are using red and white.

My style is very 50s inspired and I chose a 50s style white wedding dress and ordered a custom red sash to match the red lipstick I always wear.

My DF had his heart set on a 50s style black suit with a red shirt and a skinny black tie and Teddy Boy shoes so his outfit will suit mine well.

I'm sure this is a very stupid question - but how did you choose your colour schemes??

I'd love to start making some decisions and buying some bits in, but I can't until I've made a decision and I'm struggling with that!!!

I looked at the venue(our house) and the time of year(August) and also what really appealed to me.

I (we when he asks) decided on very pretty pastel colours. Pinks, lilacs, yellows, greens and blues. I love sweet peas and they were the inspiration. I woudl love to have sweet peas in my boquet but all the florists I talk to say they will droop too much.

My daughter has decided on mint green and silver.
Found a tie company in the states with mint green ties (they do loads of other colours too) for $3.95 (about £1.50) each!
