Colour Schemes

Options
I'm sure this is a very stupid question - but how did you choose your colour schemes??

I'd love to start making some decisions and buying some bits in, but I can't until I've made a decision and I'm struggling with that!!!

I have just redecorated my bedroom and the way I did it was to choose new bedding that I really really liked... I settled for Teal and white bedding then decided what colour would go with it, cream walls , white paintwork and teal accessories....
Just pick one item for the room that you really like and then choose your colours accordingly... or look through paint colour charts and pick from there...
I tried going to online sites that let you build rooms with different schemes but ended up more confused than ever... good luck

I wanted blue bridesmaids but OH wasn't having any of it.

So we compromised and have amethyst which is quite a deep bluey lilac bridesmaids and the tables invites and everything else is blue.

I decided it was easier then driving myself barmy trying to get everything to match :rotfl:

Oh that took us ages to decide, in the end hubby did as i couldn't :o then you see more differnet colours, so much choice.... My friend is having black and it is stunning, oh well i dont have to worry anymore, and i think my bridesmaids looked gorgeous in their colour. One bit of advice though, take into consideration everyone that will be wearing the colour, bridesmaids, best man, groom & father of the bride ( thats if you are having all of those ) as what my look great on one person may seriously look bad on another, as in they may look washed out or clash.... If they all have the same hair colour and skin tone then great, its easier, but if not get some fabric samples and try it out next to them.

If you're feeling really naughty and you have a drop dead gorgeous bridesmaid then you can choose something that doesn't suit her :D Can't believe I just said that.

Only DD could come when we went dress shopping so I picked a colour that suited her but the others have similar colouring:rotfl:

I based mine on the flowers I wanted. I wanted deep red roses - so my sister got told she was wearing red (she said as long as it wasn't lilac she didn't mind - lilac makes her look washed out ;))

    Def weddings!!

I'm not getting married in white, as I've been married before and we have 4 kids between us.

I wanted bright pink and cream, but have seen a couple of coffee coloured dresses that I really like.

Other prob is that we have had two very recent family weddings, first one was white and gold, and the second was white, bright pink and orange. Are they all a bit to similar to what I was thinking??

We are having red and white roses because I'm from Lancashire and he's from yorkshire.

He also wants red and white because they are Barnsley FC colours!

claireac - its your wedding and really you should have the colour that you want, you could base it on the colour of your dresses or even the flowers themselves.

How about a coffee coloured dress with some cream and burnt orange freesias or even burnt orange roses (depending on the deepness of the coffee colour of course).

My suggestion is that you try and get a fabric swatch for the dress that you want and then look at flowers etc to go with it.
