How about a coffee coloured dress with some cream and burnt orange freesias or even burnt orange roses (depending on the deepness of the coffee colour of course).

  • Great idea Vickiem, I'm in the same situation, marrying a yorkshire man when I come from the right side of the Pennines :D.

I've decided to go for deep pink probably as its my favourite colour but I'm going to wait to get my dress before I buy anything like bridemaids dresses/table decorations incase I fall in love with a dress that won't go with pink.
  • I got married last Sept and I knew I wanted my BMs in black. I then needed a bright colour to compliment and went for orange as I loved gerberas and mango calla lillies. It all worked very well and I got lots of compliments.

It all works out good in the end.
If it's not good, it's not the end!

ha ha funny thing :rotfl: !!!!!!! my oh chose our colour scheme orange /ivory when we set a date we decided to have a low buget wedding so i started thinking of easy to buy and find colours ie in season colours like burgandy , lilac , pink , but no he didnt like them so we decided to go to hobbycraft and i said he could pick the colour to be honest i only said it cos i was in a strop as he didnt like any of my choices lol:mad: !!!! then he spotted the little wired orange roses and he said "thats the colour its gorgeous and perfect " well still in my strop  i didnt like it and said "we`ll never match that up " well i had to admit i was wrong :o as we picked my flowers in that shop ,orange tiger lilly`s and that was it , i love the colour now and cant imagine our wedding in any other colour its so different bright and cheerfull , i`d advise you go to somewhere that has loads of different ribbons, flowers, or fabric like hobbycraft ,

ive never told him i didnt like the colour at first lol :rotfl: or that i was in a strop lol:rotfl:

If you're feeling really naughty and you have a drop dead gorgeous bridesmaid then you can choose something that doesn't suit her :D Can't believe I just said that.

ha ha bet loadsa people were thinking that but only 1 brave enough to say it lol :j xmyx

I'm not really sure how our colour scheme came about... I think I might of suggested pink and OH was having none of it.... Then we bought blue bridesmaid dresses...

Sadly my skinny bridesmaids look gorgeous in their dresses... My photographer is under strict instructions not to airbrush them at all... ;)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I was going to go for red and cream, but it's the corporate colours for my new job, and since I wear the same combination every day, I decided to have a rethink!
I was designing my bridesmaids' dresses and just pictured them with a fresh mid green ribbon tied round the waist. I found a ribbon that I love the colour of, so I've used it throughout the wedding, just in small amounts (since I'm still feeling a bit superstitious about green!) to freshen up the ivory.

  • I'm a bloke, but I know this is simple - you base it around your venue. Work from that and all will be good

i think you first few words give us the answer colour themes are not simple and yes a venue can sometimes be a good base its not always time of year colour of weddig dress colour of bridesmaid dresses colours you like colour of flowers etc can all be valid colour themes
  • 'colour you like' - well, there's the problem.

I had my wedding 4 weeks ago - my OH did a cracking job with the colours:

Even though my OH doesn't like yellow gold, we decided the most appropriate match would be creams/golds. A month before, a couple used purple as a theme.. you can see how badly that would work in that venue.

Some people just have shocking tastes :)
