O2 Contracts
Hi, the bf asked me to post this, so before anyone flames me or anything, check out my other posts which prove I'm on Orange payg with iPhone and not contract!
Ok, he wants to know, he is 6 months into his iphone contract with o2. He wants to get out of the contract and unlock his iphone for use with payg (I can do this for him easily with ziphone)
His (probably daft I'm sure) idea is, to start a new contract with the iphone 3g (he just wants to play about with it) which he hopes will forfeit the old contract (18 months), then return the iphone 3g before 14 days. He hopes by this that, although he will have to give the 3g one back, he will be able to keep his original iphone and be out of the original contract, leaving him with an unlocked iphone which he can sell when the new ones come out on payg.
Is this feasible or just a really dumb idea? Again, he just asked me to post this!

A really dumb idea.0

Well, an explanation as to why might be helpful? I can't just say to him 'that's a dumb idea' without a reason? I don't understand anything about contracts 'cos I've always had payg which is why he asked me to post on here.Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. He's in contract with O2 for another 12 months, with no grounds to get out of it. I don't really see O2 just deciding to let him out for no good reason.0

I took out a new 18 mth contract in January. I am leaving the country in September for 12 months and I rang O2 and they said I cannot cancel my contract. I can reduce the tariff by £5 a month after the 9mth period. So I'm stuck paying £35 a month for a phone that will be sat at home switched off.0

O2 told him that the original iphone contract would be voided if he took out the 3g contract, if you get what i mean- so the old contract would be defunct then he wants to cancel the new one within 14 daysFr.
