You can do it. It's illegal. And personally, I sit at my computer all day, wouldn't fancy continuing the trend at home. Suck it up and pay like the rest of us.

Been answered a bajillion times.
I'll explain it now before the idiots come and tell you their "facts".
You NEED a license if you watch or record TV as it's being broadcast.
You DO NOT need a license if you use the TV for watching DVDs/Bluray/etc or with a Playstation/XBOX/other console.
You DO NOT need a license if you watch TV using BBC Iplayer, 4OD or whatever. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
You need a license if you have equipment in the premises that can receive broadcasts or record them, even if you never do this.Neil0

No you don't, this has been covered umpteen times and you are mistaken. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

weegie.geek must be psychic. You are completely wrong. The license is only for watching broadcasts not for equipment you own. Even the TV licenses own FAQs say you don't need a license for a TV if you're only using it to watch DVDs etc. It's better to get your info from the source material than urban myths."She is quite the oddball. Who needs a television licence
You need a TV Licence to use any television-receiving equipment to watch or record TV programmes as they are being shown on TV. These include programmes on the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, cable and satellite television. Television-receiving equipment includes:- TV sets
- set-top boxes
- DVD recorders
- video recorders.
- for close circuit monitoring
- for watching pre-recorded videos or DVDs
- as a computer monitor – see under heading You don't use your television set or other device to watch or record broadcast programmes.

You still need one, you are watching a live TV transmission. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

OK first I assume you know how much they hassle people who don't buy one, even if they don't have a TV in the house (I know it's happened to second properties I own).
Then although I agree technically, you don't need one if you don't use the equipment to watch live TV.
Say, if you have a TV but only watch recordings/DVDs, they send an inspector around, he finds a TV (with a tuner), an aerial point (standard in every house in the country I'd have though), surely you can be fined, because you _could_ be potentially watching live TV?0
