Just had DMC ringing me telling me NOT to go with CCCS.....

Yes but people who borrow and consolidate etc have a problem moderating what they borrow, whether that be through ignorance or illness in some cases so the last thing they need and to risk there homes on is bad advice they are the very people who need proper advice from experts. You can't risk your homes when your options are already limited.0
-
Don't forget, however that in the case of alcohol they are directing people to a site if they are having trouble moderating what they drink. What you are proposing is that DMCs should put a caveat on pointing people to a "rival company" - albeit obviously a charity.
So are you admitting that knowledge of the market is unequal and that DMCs would prefer to keep it that way?

Soubrette how on earth did you reach that conclusion? All I was saying is that no company should have to include it's competitors in it's adverts. Could you imagine McDonalds saying come eat a bic mac, however in the interest of fairness we should let you know about Burger King in case you hadn't heard of them, they do a similar sort of menu as well!0

You are not competing with a charity you cannot give unbiased advice like they can so they are not competitors they are unbiased advice, they advise anything from bankrupcy to you don't need any products just to cut back a little.0

Rayday we do exactly the same thing, ie recommend speaking to CAB if that is best option for client, if a loan, remortgage or bankruptcy would be more beneficial we recommend that. On the IVA front which I know people tend to take issue with, we rarely recommend an IVA, due to the very strict parameters of it. If someone is not really struggling to make payments but are just over-indulging a bit too much we will tell them that as well0

I hadn't reached that conclusion - I was extrapolating it from the fact that you did not deny that most people will have heard of DMC's due to their advertisting campaigns and that you have now said twice that a company should not have to include its competitors in its adverts, I then wondered what you would have to say about it.
I actually wondered if you perhaps thought that charities did have equal footing on the knowledge front to fee charging DMCs?
I also noticed that you did not comment on my own comments about your implications that DMCs somehow offer a better service than the charities - even though that is not the case

Yes but you charge and others do it for free, if you have little money you always go for the free option.0 -

If people haven't heard of the C.C.C.S. or payplan by now then they must be walking through life with blinkers on. Any article printed on the net or spoken about on TV/Radio will always mention at least one if not both. Also yes people know of fee-charging DMCs, however it is kind of like saying you know about restaurants. They come in a pretty wide variety of skill levels, size etc. Not all of whom advertise extensively; many rely on the internet search engines to generate potential customersI actually wondered if you perhaps thought that charities did have equal footing on the knowledge front to fee charging DMCs?
I have already covered this point several times in previous posts and don't want to have to keep repeating myself.I also noticed that you did not comment on my own comments about your implications that DMCs somehow offer a better service than the charities - even though that is not the case
Isn't this the same point as the one above?0 -
We don't charge people to tell them they should be going bankrupt or getting a loan etc. All advise is free, only costs people if they actually sign up to a DMP.
Herein lies the problem, you get young people with no life experience just want money and bonuses what are they going to do and what do they do - they recommend the more profitable ways for the company.
This you cannot deny, on paper you may say the right things but countless people have experienced the reverse, I did which you just fudge over and say its small companies that are cowboys. It wasn't it was a huge company - and my MIL had experience with another huge company where they refused to even put the plan in writing for her - a widow - on her own, no internet access and she was refused the plans terms in written form how much pressure is that?0
