As posted previously the majority of DMCs don't provide anything different (other than if you pay a fee you are much more likely to stick to a plan), however there are companies who go that extra mile. Things such as reclaiming bank charges, PPI, looking at finding cheaper providers for utilities, insurances etc.

More rubbish - if you pay a free you are much more likely to stick to a plan -

How is the case for that then?

If you pay for something and it makes it more expensive - that don't make me stick with things.

Or is it the hounding phone calls you would get when they don't get the commission that month?

There is not just one person, we have several people who have ditched fee paying big DMC companies because of poor service, found out interest had nto been stopped were still getting companies ringing them.

The argument is not flawed at all people can be suicidal over debt problems and you are not helping.

What if someone comes to this board today and are suicidal they take a life ring from CCCS and then read the load of dwaddle that you are posting? Are you happy knowing you are upsetting or disturbing people who have come to a life changing decision?

Do you realise the agony that is involved in deciding on a DMP - how long that process takes, the sleepless nights, meals uneaten - do you feel any of that?

CCCS, Payplan and National debtline are the best way to go you will pay your debt quicker and you will have top notch advice. If you had any human decency you would stop running down these charities.

Rayman can you please read my posts before spouting this rubbish. I have not slagged off/sleighted or in anyway insulted the C.C.C.S. once in my posts. As for the DMP situation I have struggled to contain £20k debts for the last 5 years and have actually done the work myself to reduce payments so yes I am fully aware of the emotional aspect involved.

The bit about suicidal over debt problems was presumably a reference to my comment about alcohol killing thousands. The big difference (other than the numbers killed by alcohol compared to debts) is that the alcohol companies aren't getting any financial gain back from supporting alcohol charities, whereas creditors do.

I know one person who was paying a large DMC company (B&E) and three months into the DMP they discovered the company hadn't been paying two of the debts they had told them about, that they had taken the first payment as fees and that they were getting problems and one company was taking action to put a charge on their house.

She soon ditched them and felt they were completely useless and found in fact nothing had been paid to any of her debts so in three months she was in an even worse position, having paid out for .... NOTHING at all

If he likes numbers take the DMP support thread in excess of 200 people, most of those with Payplan or the CCCS, some self managed and a few changed over from fee paying companies. Strangely not one has gone from any of those routes to fee paying because the service is good.

Just my personal take on it but over on the BR board we notice numerous cases of people being misold IVA's by these fee paying companies just to make sure they make some money as profit is their primary motive...

You have admitted yourself that you haven't used a DMC so how would you know whether they hound you for payments. Some will obviously, however others don't. What about the creditors hounding for money?

If you pay for a service it is bound to make you more committed because you know at the back of your mind that if you make a mess of it, not only will you be back in trouble with the creditors, you would also be out of pocket to the DMC. That would certainly be motivation enough for me.

By "we" are you meaning this website or are you an employee of C.C.C.S.? Either way there are always going to be people who feel they got a poor service, whether it was with a DMC - large or small or with a non-fee paying company. Bad news is always spread faster than good and the people complaining are always in a very small minority. We have had hundreds of letters thanking us for the help we have given, as no doubt have C.C.C.S. We have had people coming on board who were with C.C.C.S. but felt they weren't getting the best treatment and no doubt C.C.C.S. have had the same about us, however these cases are always a tiny amount compared to the number of very happy clients both companies have.

I know because when I turned down the fee charging nationally recognised fee charging company I got the phonecalls. Also my MIL went to a different large company and they wouldn't even give her the plan on paper because apparently ever one had email - luckily we stopped her course a company does not want you reading the small print.

I am employed to work with disabled young people so nothing to do with the debt world but thanks for admitting in that, that you work for a DMC now we can see how biased your information is :D

I said in my very first post that I worked in marketing for a DMC, I haven't tried to hide anything and nor am I trying to be biased, just trying to make the point both fee-charging and non-fee charging companies have a place in the market.
