Trying to send file by e-mail

Hi Guys
Have tried to send a file by e-mail to my wife. She's running Vista, using Windows Mail, as well as Avast and Spybot.
Having disabled all the tick-boxes alluding to unsafe attachments etc. the e-mail is still arriving without the attachment.
I've sent the e-mail to myself, and the file arrives OK (Windows XP & Outlook Express), and I know I could put the file on a memory stick, but I may need to do this by e-mail in the future.
Any ideas guys ?
Is there something in Vista, Windows Defender, Avast, Spybot or Windows Mail I'm missing ?

What type of file is it?
Perhaps her ISP is stripping it for some reason? You could try zipping the file and sending that in case the file type is causing the problem.Charlie0 -
It's a Word file.
Will try and send a zipped version.Baby-Mechanic

Or just change the file extension from .doc to .txt and then get her to change it back before opening it.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0

Thanks for looking in
Right, sent it as a zip file - no joy.
Sent as an RTF, arrived with a file attached icon, but when we tried to ope it, we got this message:
WARNING !!! (from manxnetsf02.manx.net)
The following message attachments were flagged by the antivirus scanner:
Attachment [2.2] winmail.dat, scan failed: Scan engine error.
Action taken: incomplete scan.
Manx.net is my ISP, and I've contacted them, as they're mentioned in the first part of the message.
What I'm intrigued about is the reference to winmail.dat
Does this have a scanning function ?Baby-Mechanic

Is that the contenets of the attachement or is that a message from your resident anti-virus scanner?
Info on winmail.dat here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278061
but I don't know if that applies here.
Come on Windows experts, where are you?Charlie0 -
Apologies
When you go to open the e-mail attachment, that's the message that appears as if I've sent it in the e-mail.Baby-Mechanic

I would say that meant there was something wrong with one of the scanners. Seen as its more likely that Avast would be scanning your emails as they arrive, I suggest you first send the attachment to someone else, (apart from yourself). If they get it then you need to remove Avast and reinstall it. If that dosnt work try the same with spybot.Rules, Rules, Rules .....0 -
Google Docs !!!It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

Sent the attachment again, this time with the receiving machine without Avast and spybot. E-mail arrived without attachment again.
Sent to others with positive result.
Any further suggestions ?Baby-Mechanic
