    Hi
has anyone more information on this as we are renting a camper van for the 2011 rugby world cup. CDW insurance is proving a problem to find and is expensive from the van hire company.
    Any help appreciated
    Thanks

CDW insurance remained unsolved for me since I was not able to find the right source. Will be of great help for me too.
  • I noticed that the company moneymaxim featured for car hire excess insurance in the MSE newsletter last week have a fair bit of information on their website at the moment about campervan excess insurance: http://www.moneymaxim.co.uk/news/motorhome-hire-insurance/camper-van-hiring-insurance.htm

I think you can choose excess insurance for campervans etc when searching on these pages -
    http://www.moneymaxim.co.uk/compare-car-hire-excess-insurance

Hope it helps. BTW - who is going to win the rugby world cup in New Zealand next year?
  • Questor insurance do a specific policy for motor homes, used them but never had to claim
  • If you are having trouble with CDW you should use an agent to book your campervan for your New Zealand holiday (and it is usually cheaper than booking direct for some reason).
  • You may find this site http://www.transfercar.co.nz/ useful as you can sometimes get free trips transferring the camper back to base
  • briangr1 mentioned Questor Ins, and i found this company via google also, as i did this page.
Anyway i did an on-line quote for NZ 26 days cover for 1 + 2 drivers and got a quote for £233.73 (1) + £467.48 (2) which beats the typical NZ$45 excess per day cover. You will have to pay for the first £100 of any claim and it does include underbody cover and in total £5000 max for any claim. One thing the campervan must be a maximum of 5 years old from registration, so that will exclude quite a few vans.

If i do rent a campervan i most probably will use them, unless anyone else can find a better price:-)

web link is questor-insurance.co.uk (can't insert link)
  • The insurance that comes with your campervan rental will always include an Excess. When you pick up your campervan at the depot, you will have to leave a deposit there. The amount of the deposit will be the amount of the excess that applies to the insurance.
