3 network - what the verdict?

I used 3 several months ago and had nothing but hastle with them. There deals are great but you have to able to use the phone to make the phone calls.
I area in which i live i had no prblem with O2 but with 3 shadowing o2 when the have no 3G coverage i could not make calls half the time. It is suposed to be getting better but if you start a contract with them you will have problems geting out of it even if you cant use the phone.
I had to take legal advice on how to get out of it & still ended up havig to foot stupid bills. Two of my mates had similar problem & they bought out of the contracts. The call center is next to useless & they strugle to understand English. It is only my opinion but i would advise anyone to try 3 on pay as you go before you enter a contract to see how you get on.Do remember legal advice does ot make a cheap contract it is an expensive lesson to learn i went back to Orange.
I would recomend you use Martins tips to get a tarif match with 3 from orange. It may just depend where you live but for me it was an expensivemistake.0 -
I am also disappointed about the coverage, i lose about 10 - 15 minutes of coverage while on my train home from work (45 minute journey). Admittedly, my mate's vodafone is not much better, he loses about 5 minutes of coverage on the same train. the switchover between 3 and O2 is not instant, takes a couple of minutes. The coverage checker on https://www.three.co.uk indicates that it'll improve a bit over the next few months.
Yes, the call centre is in India, which causes some language issues when trying to solve problems, having said that, I've only had to call them once in the six months I've had the phone, and that was only because I stupidly lost the cd-rom for my phone and needed another one.
They are incredibly cheap for calls, I'm saving about £10 per month from when I was on t-mobile.
The video calls are expensive (50 p pr minute - ouch!), but I've never used one as no-one else I know is using 3
Also, you don't get standard wap access, you can only view content on 3's network (ie i couldn't go to the bbc wap site for example)Reality is an illusion caused by lack of alcohol0 -

If you dont use the phone for business purposes, and dont mind enabiling auto-redial on the LG8120 (takes 2 attempts to get a call out sometimes) then its ok.0

Ive been with 3 for around 5 months now, and I have to agree their coverage is pants. recently their 333 service to chceck up how mnay free minutes yo have left was busted. Also would be interesting to see how they would handle the refund im due on the 8th month.Olympic 2007 challenge Started 9 Jan 2007[strike]Aim Silver 2007.00[/strike] Aim Gold 3007.00 Achieved so far:782
