No you don't need to backup anything, switching to broadband doesn't remove anything from your pc !0

Are you getting your Broadband from AOL or are you closing down your AOL account and moving to another ISP?0

Correct. Your computer wont know anything happened. Its like changing the fuse in a plug. Dosnt affect the appliance at all. (Unless you put the wrong one in but you don't have to worry about that with broadband)Rules, Rules, Rules .....0 -
Where have you been ???? So much too see - So much to do !!!
Congratulations by the way.0 -
I'd recommend regular backing up anyway, irrespective of your broadband situation!0

Exactly. Backup isn't something that you do when you know something is going to happen. It's something you do regularly and frequently. Most people wouldn't go mountain climbing without harnesses so why do the equivalent with your data?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

It's unlikely that switching would cause you to lose any data.
I remember when I was switching I was having problems getting it working and he (the guy from NTL)
told me to delete my existing dial-up connections, which I did slightly reluctantly, anyway I was soon up and running on broadband and I would not go back to dial up.
I would however recommend getting the number of a few 'pay as you go' internet operators so that if you end up without your AOL dial up or broadband then at least you will have acccess to the internet for advice.(It's esay to set up a 'pay as you go' connection, you basically just need the number).
However I don't expect you will have any problems unless the set-up disk is faulty.0 -

If you use an AOL email service I would back up your emails and your address book, also your browser favorites (do AOL use there own browser?)
You can get utilities that will back up for you (i think Windows comes with one), but I do mine manually as it means I dont back up the rubbish that I dont really need/Want.
https://www.downloads.com search for backup (i just did and it returned over 400 free apps to do it)"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"
