Is it worth selling clothes on Ebay?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew how good the reception is on ebay for clothes? I've not sold on there before (am a major newbie to online selling) and was after some tips, what sells best?
Thanks!

Baby clothes, anything designer, handbags always sell well. Baby clothes bundles are good for people looking to buy a new wardrobe at each stage of their baby's development.

Be careful when selling designer clothing or Bags.

Lately Ebay have been know to remove listings which they think are fake goods (even if they are genuine  ). They are also 'limiting' the amount of Designer items you can sell within a 30 day period.

I think I would pretty much avoid things with a designer label at the moment, that £30 million fine has got to have made them uber cautious.

Personally whenever I have sold brand new tagged clothing I have had nothing but problems, peoeple wearing stuff and returning it , changing their mind after having it for a week or just claiming it doesn't fit, even when I list all the measurements as well as the size.

There was a woman on the TV though that actually made a living out of vintage clothes. She was a designer and knew exactly what to buy and how to restore items and photograph them to show them at their best. She was last seen actually hiring staff as her business was going so well.

If it's women's clothes, Next and Monsoon have always sold pretty well for me - especially the larger sizes.

I had a white suit jacket which I bought in a Next clearance shop for £30, wore once to a wedding, and then sold on ebay for £36.

On the other hand, I've had really rubbish results with 'designer' clothes. I think people just don't believe they're genuine.

Second hand stuff should be ok. AS ebay wont care about labled used goods. Ebay is also good for selling specialist stuff like leather biker jackets, or clothes for a particular job/use.

Not necessarily, they are very unhappy about the untagged 'from my wardrobe' designer bag sales and will often pull auctions and ask questions later.

  • It's a doddle as it's what I sell.

Like with all ebay selling, once you've got a good reputation it's easy.

The hard part is finding decent gear in the first place but once you do, happy days.

I use to sell clothes quite a lot. But like an earlier post said it's not really worth the effort now.
When I sold stuff sellers could neg buyers but the grief I got from some people because they're in denial about their 'true' size was unreal.
I had a woman give me a neutrel because the jacked she bought off me was too tight even though I had given all the measurements.
God knows what it's like now the buyers hold all the cards
Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

I only sell blokes clothes as they aren't as fussy. :D

Once you get a decent reputation it's easy and if you know what you're doing the profit margin is minimum of 50%.

It's paying of my mortgage with a minimum of effort (at the moment).

  • I've been having a major clearout and have a lot of clothes to sell. Some are new with tags, some have only been worn once. No designer gear, as my spending habit never stretched to that! :p

I've been using ebay for 2 years, and have built up a nice feedback score (mainly as a buyer rather than seller).

Is it worth the risk selling the clothes on ebay, or go for something like bigwardrobe? I've heard so many scare stories about buyers knackering sellers feedback ratings

    Advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
