How can I get out of a contract??

I've got an 18month contract with T-mobile, which ends at the end of October, but I'd like to switch to O2 asap because the signal i get at home is dreadful.
Whats the best and cheapest way to go about this?
My contract is 18 month, £20/month, but I go over on minutes, usually making it £30-£35/month sadly. There's not some sort of get out clause being in the last few months is there??
Any advice is appreciated!
Jay

Normally you can get out by paying the remaining line rental. If you've got til October you'll probably have to pay 3 months line rental.

i worked for tmobile years ago and it usesd to be if you could prove the signal was rubish and they could then they could let you out of your contract and let you go to to o2 for the cost of nothing but if you have made any calls or texts from your phone they can claim that they have provided you wiith a service to make these calls and therefore charge you the remaining line rental

The StreetCheck guarantee just gives you 14 days to return if the signal is rubbish (and you were misinformed when they ran the check in store or online).

If you go over in minutes, you should have upgraded to the next rung up the ladder for an extra £5, which would have probably given you ample minutes. Might not be worth it now.

My advice would be to take the hit and pay the cancellation fee. O2 will probably offer a cashback deal that can offset this cost somewhat anyway (although in a way it's a false economy as that would have been money in your pocket).

You could try to contest through any clause you find (eg the cinrease in 08xx charges) - however arbitration takes 3 months to get to which would kind of make it pointless.
