I wouldn't eat in Havens on site. The food (in my experience) is microwaved, overpriced and often the service is pretty slow.
We are going to lakeland next week and I plan on sneaking in some voddie and just buying coke at the bar.
I'd also suggest giving your 9 year old a daily allowance - then she/he can decide whether a shot on the bouncy castle is worth it !
Hiya!
We are going camping at Lakeland in a couple of weeks. Normally, we take the kids drinks with us too, ( and sneak our vodka/brandy in too ). I was wondering if when you get back you would mind posting what kids drinks they sell at the bar, so I can get some from tescos to take with us. Last year at Martin Mere they sold capri suns at about 90p each I think, but tesco had them on offer 2 packs of 10 for £3 which saved us loads of money. I just wanted to do the same this year, so I would be grateful if you could have a look for me
Thank you x0 -
umm, i'm in the same quandary. we're going to a europarcs site in spain so will be eating out in the local town every night, snacks through the day, the several trips out.
I was going to take £800 for ten days but now i'm worried it wont be enough. Should we take a grand to be on the safe side? eeeeek
Eating out in Spain is still pretty cheap, particularly if you eat at lunchtime. You can get the menu del dia for around 10 euros, including wine in most places. I don't know how many of you there are but you'll get a lot of food and drink for £80 per day.0 -
If you want to eat out in a haven park, then do so off-site. You'll get better service, better quality food and better value than the stuff they serve up there.
Also, there are other options to restaurant or cooking in a caravan - picnics on by the river? Barbeque on the beach? Lunch can easily be sorted the night before and chucked in a coolbox for later. Drinks are extortionate so stock up at an off-site supermarket or bring your own.0 -
MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to the Travel board, where it should get more replies. Will do! We are off tomorrow, camping (cross fingers for not much rain). Will also scope what bottled beer they sell
I justifiy bringing in my own stuff as my kids always end up wanting some piece of overpriced crap from the toy shop, and popcorn (which they never eat, and a slushy, and a shot on the arcade games.........0 -
Hi Lynne
Hope you had a great time
Did you have a chance to have a look at what kids drinks they sold at the bar, as I will be doing the "big holiday shop" in the next couple of days.
Also, any hints and tips of where to pitch the tent as reviews say there are some very boggy parts when it rains, or just anything you think i should know!
Hope you can help...0 -
The golden rule is always take twice as much spending money and half the amount of clothes that you think you will need
Seriously though, you are going to a caravan park, if you need something just drive to the nearest tescos/Asda/Lidl .. don;t buy on site. The prices will be pretty much the same as you are used to.
ivanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0
