Hi,
it is with relief that I have read your posts about Maestro marketing.
Received a call last night asking me some questions about holiday preferences. An hour ago I received another call saying I'd won a £49 4* star holiday in Italy with private villa and pool for four persons at just £49 each. I was assured it was nothing to do with time share but that we had to attend a "non-obligation" seminar in North Tiverton. As usual with these unbelievable offers, I was quite skeptical but thought we'd go along just for the cheap holiday offer. However, the person ended the call without giving us the address of the seminar! So just happened to go online to look up a phone number for Maestro Marketing and came across all these horror stories from victims of Maestro.
I'd like to say thank you for the warnings. We are quite strapped for cash this year like many others and were very tempted by the offer but we now realise it was a complete and utter con. My only question is WHY Trading Standards aren't stopping these people? Surely they are a bunch of fraudsters or husslers affectively stealing people's money???!!
Thanks for your advice

Did you go to the seminar? I received a call from them about two weeks ago and am wondering whether to go or not? Why do you say they are a con?0

This could be the best thing i've stumbled upon in a long time - I too have very recently received the similar pattern of phone calls as decribed on this thread - very friendly initial phone call enquiring about Holiday habits and then the "you've been selected" etc etc phone call from a very pleasant lady called "Liz" who also rang back and spoke to my wife - We have been invited to attend a seminar in Taunton on 4th April at the Castle Creech Hotel at 10:30.
I am very tempted to attend and see how this all develops, dont get me wrong, I have had my suspicions from the start and these havent been averted by a very amateurish looking "confirmation" letter that has arrived which is nothing more than a poor colour photocopy onto pale blue card and is headed "Mecca Marketing" the letter is poorly put together including mixing the 24 hour clock times with the am/pm clock!! - we've also been promised "vouchers" on arrival at Taunton as a "thank you" for our time.
Might give it a "whirl" and see what transpires - certainly prepared for the "hard sell" and they'll be in for a shock if they try!!
If anyone has actually benefitted from one of their holidays then it would be great to hear something positive?0 -
We have just received a call from Mecca Marketing (Sundial) to confirm our visit them at Taunton tomorrow. Questioned the Gentleman on the phone about their intentions and what they were trying to sell and he didn’t have any answers. Told him of the number of hits they had received on this site complaining about their scam and he was happy to let me go. If you have been invited to one of these meetings, just ignore it, there is not such thing as a free lunch.

Thank you everyone for all the comments, we will NOT be booking a holiday with these cowboys.
We had a lucky escape, was supposed to be attending the 1430 talk at Bridgewater last Saturday. Phoned on Friday re the vouchers and said that we would have to bring our 3 and 1 year old if they wanted both my husband and I - got reluctant agreement. Had a phone call 10 mins later saying 1430 overbooked could we come to the 1200 instead - they knew I was coming off nightshift that morning. However, desperate for cheap holiday so off we went. Got there and was told that in view of kids we could have our voucher and free holiday without having to sit through the talk- Whooppeee!!! So free voucher without the hard sell and we had a fantastic time with the kids at the animal auction centre that is in the same building as the presentation! Great day out thanks to Sugar Reef, and after reading all the posts here and on other sites, we WILL NOT send any money!:D:p0 -
We have just been to Creech Castle (Sunday 17th May), again very similar experience to other posts who have been. I felt quite scrutinised by the man - he even set to 'sus' us out from the moment we drove in the car park and he knew what car we had turned up in! However, he was quite up front, realised that we would not be buying as was not our thing - we had a bit of a laugh, just as much at him and he certainly was not giving us any hard sell and was having a hard time filling the time - in fact we were drilling him more to give us the information about the deal they were trying to offer - in the end he wouldn't even tell us how much we were talking about. He was dying for a fag (we made him quite exasperated!) and suggested that we go outside for fresh air. We followed him downstairs and he gave us the free holiday booklet with Sugar Reef and when I asked him about the vouchers, he said he would arrange to post them - yeh yeh (wish I'd stuck out and insisted we have them there and then - £10.00 is better than nothing!) We got quite excited on reading the Sugar Reef free holiday options. However, now having read peoples experiences, we may be a bit more wary. I fully understood that any cheap holiday would be a case of 'what you can get is better than nothing' but it seems that just being offered a holiday is hard enough. Might just risk going for the UK mini break or European City break though. Can't find anything about anyone actually having a holiday - is there anyone out there who has benefited from it?0

Hi wish we'd looked at this before we drove 120 miles for the presentation at Creech Castle with Atlas Holidays aka St Frances Marketing (still the 5 hours kids free was a bonus) . We spent 2.5 hrs geeing up the rep and were very impressed by their cars, just goes to show it pays well. Word of warning we have never fallen for this sort of scam before so they are very good at their jobs!! Thought we were clever to avoid first offer but got sucked into what was probably the real deal. Did come to our senses later and pulled out during cooling off period, (hope to god the young couple beside us did too). Was not prepared for the saleman's visit to "collect the pack and deliver the voucher/free holiday" ......and 'by the way how about if the first 2 years are free' !!!! Will not be booking the "free" holiday after reading all this although was promised on phone no money up front....just £49 each when confirmation of holiday comes through. The booklet says money up front and in the very small print you have to attend another presentation or pay up to £500 for accomodation.
Scam scam scam no other word for it. DON'T GET SUCKED IN!!!0
