  • i live in Derbyshire and in my village nearly every house has a mine shaft show up on the surverys (dont they go out to about 200m or something??)

Anyway, a couple of houses very close to my old one had capped shafts within 20mtrs of the prooperty boundary.. they must have had 2-3 sales fall through because of it before they found someone who didnt care...

Due to their proximity i reckon my house from literally metres outside the area on which the surveys make an extra point of noting so i had no issues at all..

    Me, i wouldnt touch it.

My sister used to live on top of a still-active mine (Cornwall - shut a few years ago). In the garden you could sometimes hear blasting  We never dug too deep lol. I was quite glad when she moved...just in case, y'know. Personally, I'd probably walk away, but then it sounds as though the whole area is mined?

I live in Yorkshire and there's mines all over tbh. It doesn't bother us, we wouldn't be able to live in this town if we weren't prepared to live near a mine!

I don't know where you are, but where I live there are mines all over the place.

Blackheath in south-east London is like that. There have been quarries dug all over the place for centuries, and no-one knows where most of them are.

The A2 road collapsed, on Blackheath Hill, a few years ago when a quarry opened up.

I just don't see it myself. Why buy a house with potential problems when there are so many on the market at the moment? Come to think of it, why buy a house at all at the moment?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

tell them you want 15k off or you are running away...the can only say yes or no...if i was buying yours second hand and if i found out about the mine im afraid i would run..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
