Mac code

Hi,
I'm currently on Virgin Media but switching to O2.. O2 have asked for a mac code, but not sure what to do as I have explained the Virgin Media does not use the line but instead is a cable connection.. They said that I would then need to provide the MAC Code for any previous broadband providor that used the line.
The last broadband I had through the line was AOL and it was 6/7 years ago so not sure how to get a MAC Code through them now?
Any advice?
Thanks

You don't need a MAC. If you want o2 then you're going to have to get a telephone line as o2 don't deliver their service over a fibre optic line, but a copper line.
You're not confined to using BT to get a copper telephone line btw, theres plenty of alternative providers out there.
Personal opinion is that you're going to go through a pricey process. Have you tried calling Virgin (i presume you're out of your contract) to see if you can get a better deal than what you're on currently.

I'm confused.. We get the telephone line throuh another company, not Virgin, so why should have to buy another line :S0

You said you had virgin cable for your internet? Virgin are the only people that can operate as a provider on their network.
If you want to use ADSL providers, such as o2, then you need to have a copper telephone line.
From the initial post i was assuming you didn't have a copper telephone line. If its a case that you have then o2 do not need a MAC, they just need to install the broadband on that line.0
