How Do I Switch With a Prepayment Meter?

I currently have prepayment meter for my electricity and I like this. I want to switch my electricity supplier but do I have to wiat till there's no money on the metere? Or can I get any leftover money refunded? Will the new company swap everything over and it will be the same or will I have a new payment key?
