To be honest, have you ever tried wiping a Johnsons baby wipe across a painted wall? Even just a gentle dab strips off paint, and people use those on delicate baby bums! I think an awful lot of skin cleansers on the market today would have the same results, scary.
I still want to try Clinique though, so many people swear by it! I'm 26 and still have skin like a 14 year old, oily, annoying spots, blackheads, massive pores
This isn't clinique, but there isn't actually a product they do which does the same thing. I had huge black pores, around my nose, between my eyebrows and on my chin. I didn't know what to do about them until I read beautypedia, and read about Clearasil Daily Blackhead Clearing Pads.
What causes spots is excess facial oil (duh) which is called sebum, anyway this stuff contains salicylic acid (read this link) which is fantastic stuff. It is an anti irritant, which means it reduces red patches caused by sebum breaking the skin, and it is an exfoliant which means it gets rid of older, sun damaged and dead skin from the top layers so the fresh, new skin underneath emerges. It also can get through the sebum into pores and reshape them so they become smaller in appearance.
All this sounds like advertising mumbo jumbo but I can say I've noticed every one of these in my skin. Before I could literally scratch dry oil off my nose pores and see it in my finger nails (yuck, sorry!) but now my nose is soft, the pores are small and flesh coloured, and I don't get nearly as many spots as I did (less than 1 per month).
The best thing is that unlike almost every clearasil product these don't contain any irritants like alcohol so it's perfect for spotty or just oily skin. (I also use this on dry areas though, under moisturiser and serum, and it's fine, and keeps my skin all fresh and new)
In Clinique, I really, really recommend Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer. (You can usually buy it cheaper on ebay) It's perfect for your type of skin, and I'm just going to repeat the review on beautypedia as I can't say it better than this:
Beautypedia wrote:Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer contains what Clinique refers to as “an advanced cocktail of exfoliants,” but the only ingredient that has substantiated research behind it to support that claim is salicylic acid. Although present in this silky-smooth lotion at approximately 1%, the pH of 5 limits its ability to exfoliate. Clinique has taken a cue from parent company Estee Lauder and included acetyl glucosamine, which they believe is an effective non-acid exfoliating agent, although there is still no substantiated research proving this ingredient’s effectiveness as an alternative to AHA or BHA exfoliants. It does have excellent water-binding properties for skin, and complements the other skin-beneficial ingredients in this product quite well. Although this product won’t “renew” skin, it is an outstanding, well-packaged, lightweight moisturizer that contains several antioxidants, vitamins, cell-communicating ingredients, and anti-irritants. It is fragrance-free and best suited for those with normal to oily skin. Fans of Estee Lauder’s Idealist take note: Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer is incredibly similar, right down to its light texture and silky finish. One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you!
