Has anybody used The CV Center for a professional CV writer? I was thinking about using them as Ive just graduated but I cant find anything on them?

you should never need to pay to get your own CV written - total waste of money!
have a look at prospects as their website has lots of great advice and examples. also check your univeristy careers service - they may have examples online or you could meet someone who could help tailor your CV to the type of job you want.:happyhear0 -
I think it is quite laughable the number of students who graduate these day without knowing how to write a CV. I had modules in both my first and second years on professional development including how to write a CV and cover letter and also had practice when applying for my placement.
Ask your careers service to help you, but the main things to include in my opinion:
Personal/Contact Information
Key Skills - List and describe
Qualifications - e.g. degree and qualification, not sure on A-Levels and number of GCSEs with grade range (or just list English and Maths)
Interests
Referees0 -

Go to your universities careers office they help with CV writing, many do CV writing workshops too. I know you have left uni now but you can use the services of the careers office for upto 3 years after graduating if I remember correctly. Goodluck!0

I'm always suspicious of first time posters who come straight in with a link like this.
I'm even more suspicious that you have always used them as I can't see why anyone would need to use this service in the first place, let alone twice or more.0 -
I second that - go to your careers service and ask them - they are such and underused service in most places. If you can, take a first draft and a copy of the job advert.
You should have a different CV - ideally - for every job you apply for (or if you are scatter-bombing, then one for every field you are applying for - I have four basic drafts, an industrial employment CV, an education CV, a resume and an academic CV. They are all very very different and I work from these drafts depending on what I am looking for.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
bestpud,
Interesting comments. I would note that both Varsha and Cerney are first-time posters (and these are their only posts ever!).
Sounds to me suspiciously like a competitor of The CV Centre, most probably cvwriting.net!
I'm a first-time poster too, but I'm not promoting or denigrating anyone's service. I'm just making an observation as to the interesting behaviour of some forum members.0 -
very very odd for a first time poster to bring up a thread 2 months old too!:happyhear0
