very picky eater

hi, my other half is a very picky eater, he doesnt eat ANY veg and only eats applea when he fancies. he lives on sandwiches and crisps at work and meat and chips for tea.
he will eat curry, only if its meat and sauce
spag bol, only if its mince and sauce
fajita, if the peppers are raw
sunday dins would be meat, roasties, yorkie puds
he wont even eat mash

i find it soo hard to think of things o make him and he must be soo bored eating the same old s**t (sorry but thats what it is) lucky for thim hes 10st and doesnt put weight on but his insides must be a mess! im training to be a nurse and get really worried when we talk about healthy eating
i eat healthy, we have seperate meals very day, we do eat together but differen things. he always says my meal looks and smells better than his but he wont try it

he will eat raw carrots and peppers and onions and thats it. we have lived togethr 3yrs and had so many arguments over this
he is always hungry cos his meals dont satisfy him so will eat crisps, yoghurts ice cream etc till hes full
i need some ideas for meals for him cos his diet costs more than mine!! and what about when we have children!!!

his brither is EXACTLY the same with food, if not worse, he wont even eat pasta and rice
tea at his mums is meat and ships or pizza, yet his mum n dad have cooked roast every night ??!!
aparently he used to eat 'platefuls of cabbage but then one day went off all veg' and his mu just didnt force the issue

hes 27.

please help me!!!

The thread I had in mind is linked below. It's about getting kids to eat right - but then if you treat your other half as a big kid you won't go too far wrong :)

    help my kids...

What a nightmare, he sounds like a toddler! I'll just go with Squeaky's suggestion and look at the fussy eater threads.

Really though his health is his own responsibility but it must be hard to sit by and watch him eating like this, especially as you are a nurse and know what harm it is doing.

Maybe he could visit a well man clinic or his GP and get his blood pressure, cholesterol checked etc, if they're raised that may shock him into action. If he ate good stuff previously it's probably just habit now that he's slipped into bad ways not a genuine dislike of the tastes. Have you tried only cooking good stuff and the "that's all there is like it or go hungry" tactic, not having crisps etc in the house although it's harder with an adult, he can just nip up the road for his own crisps! Does he help with the cooking at all? Maybe if he had more input in the buying, preparing side he may be more inclined to try new things. Good luck!!

yes he would just go to the shop!! he will help me cook but im kind of annoying and do things myself, i know what im doing kind of thing!! if i ask him to help he will do the tidying up! he will chop things up for me too and eat them raw sometimes. hes quite good at salads but its just not the weather for them now! he says veg is sloppy, think it must have been his mums cooking cos i steam mine and they aint sloppy!!

he had kidney surgery in feb so had all the tests done for vital singns, everything is fine but that isnt a lifetime guarentee is it!!! its given him even more confidence now, like 'well ve had the testa and im fine so i dont need veg and all that cr*p' hmmm nice.

ive evn tryed shaming him into it, we usually go to my familys house for xmas with 19people but he will still only eat meat and roasties, even with 18people having a go!
hes so slim that i just sometimes thin well if hes eating im happy but it catches up with me, i dnt wanna be leaft single at 50 when he has heart attack from all these fats hes eating. ive tryed look well eat this today then chips n meat tomoro, he will jsut scarpe it in the bin and eat late at night!!
is wer in a restaurant ive seen him send food back because theyv brought out peas on his plate and he asks b4 ordering that they dont give him anyveg. if a chip has been next to a pea he will throw it away!!!!!!!!!

    ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGYHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

my fridge and cupboards are like his n hers!!

he says shep pie etc is boring so he doesnt like it, ive tryed saying look its not that you dont LIKE it, its that you find it bland. i put things into mine, use sweet potato, carrot etc for the mash, he will just say ugh no thanks and make a bacon butty

the threads are great for kids but i cant fool a 27yr old quite so easily! i dont think hed want to make pizza faces!!
    im at my wits end

His restaurant habits sound worse than a vegeterian friend I once new. She wouldn't eat anything if it had been near meat.
