Of course, doing that would violate the OS X User Agreement:

"This License allows you to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time. You agree not to install, use or run the Apple Software on any non-Apple-labeled computer, or to enable others to do so."

Probably easier just to buy a Mac. :)

Apple invalidated the EULA when they used "THE SAME EULA" to install Safari on Windows PC's (when upgrading IPlayers!!) :D:P:D lol!!

Also there's been a company selling Apple OS on non apple built PC's for a good 5 months now and no law suit in sight.. :D:D

Yes, that was a bit of a screw-up. They've fixed it now though.

Well obviously I can't speak for Apple, but I agree that it is rather odd that Psystar haven't been sued into oblivion by Apple. Still, installing OS X on a non-Apple computer is indisputably against its EULA. That other people do it doesn't make it OK.

Also, you've got no guarantee that Apple won't release a software update that'll render your new computer a rather large and ugly paperweight (though Software Update doesn't work properly on Psystar's systems anyway, so that might not be too much of a problem).

I've got some felt pens I can draw on an apple.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Technically the EULA is not 100% legally binding. Most companies don't want to risk taking it to court to see if it stands up in a Civil or private lawsuit by itself. The times when the EULA has been in court it's been as a side issue when backed by copyright law (in regards to making illegal backups of software).

The Mac maker filed a formal complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on July 3rd, just one day after Psystar began distributing a modified version of the Mac OS X 10.5.4 Leopard update to customers who had previously purchased one of its unauthorized Mac systems.

    lol...thanks for the update.

Interesting though, that they're not suing them for installing OS X on non-Apple computers, but for modifying and distributing the OS X 10.5.4 update.

I guess they didn't want to put the legality of the EULA to the test in a court.
