Just a quick note - I see that your insurance is with Abbey; please do check elsewhere as Mortgage Lenders are notorious for having the highest insrance. This also includes buildings and contents insurances. We are not suggesting that you do not have insurance but simply that you get the best deal on the insurances you have,

Keep plodding on and you will get there!
Thank you yes we will do that. We did have the Abbey home and contents insurance when we first got the house. I was a case of the more we get from them the more likely they are to give us a mortgage, or thats what we though anyway.
As soon as the first year was up I did confused.com and changed.
Just got our renewal from Barclays actually and it's not bad at all and I will get cashback in a few weeks.

With regard to your third ownership of the other house if it is simply a matter of doing and registering an Assent it should not be too expensive - you may be able to do it yourself if the relevant document has been drawn up? Pm me if you want.
  • 'Stuff' costs a fortune doesn't it:rolleyes: that is where i go wrong, I just buy too much of the damned 'stuff' :rotfl: Seriously though, do you have things you could sell to pay some debts off? I know you won't be able to make big in-roads but anything is a start?

PS make the most of being off work (I presume you are getting sick pay?) to try and sort things out that would normally get left :D

Hiya - you're situation sounds very similar to ours, including the total amount of debt and how it arose, the way some of CC companies have bumped up the interest rates (thanks for that!) even though they are aware of issues with repayment, paying on CC even though there was cash in the bank!

I have yet to post a SOA, but I have used this site to claim back a reasonable amount of cash so far - next step is bank charges. I've not worked it out but I reckon this is probably in excess of £1,000 over the last 6 years, so definitely worth getting my hands on.

    Good luck!!

All I seem to hear is blah blah blah!

    Thank you:beer:
It's nice, if you know what I mean, to know none of us are alone. Though would be lovely to see this section of the board totally clear!
That is the thing that annoys me the most, not just for me but for everyone.... those little CC company computers must think 'hmmm, they are getting near their limit, let's up it a little, then a little more.... and then wham, lets up that interest rate, and when they really seem to be struggling, lets up the amount they have to pay each month too!.
  • Have you heard of a spending diary? I use this online one to keep track of those sneaky spends. Here is a link

Yes I started one yesterday and now I can't login! Doh!:o
It asks for your e-mail address but there is no 'can't remember my login details button'.
Scrap that, I took a final guess and got in! (Brains not as bad as I thought)

Anyway, I've not spent a bean today. In fact I won £10 on a pub card at work, so I've put it in my terramundi. (See I did always have good intentions of saving as i asked for two terramundi's for my birthday lol)

I have also opened the joint bank account with the natwest..... and we get a card and a cheque book so not such cold turkey after all.

Doing ok, though still waiting for the new bank account stuff to come through so I can pop into town and get that up and running. That's when I will start the DMP.
I also have to get my car sorted this week, new tyres and an exhaust, ouch!
I used to do the lottery syndicate at work, but have now said I can't be bothered anymore (want to concentrate my time on sorting all this out) so will have my share of the winning's to put into my pot, about £7 since Xmas.
I think the hardest thing is to get my DH into the money saving frame of mind. He's just popped out to get fags, but I we are going out later so why do it seperately.... and he likes his 'stuff' more than me.
He also likes a bottle of wine now and then, and gave me a tenner to go and get a couple of bottles yesterday with the shopping. I did, I got his normal £2.20 a bottles and a packet of nibbles for me and stuck the £5 change into the pot!:D
Now off to see if I can find my pegs so as to not the use the tumble drier.

    How are things with you?
