What was the damage to your car (also what car was it; manuf, model, age, spec, etc) and has this already been paid separately or not?

If you are having back pains and the feelings of whiplash, depending on the severity of it and how long you have been suffering from this; £1000-1400 is quite low to be honest.

Maybe if people were more attentive on the roads then premiums wouldn't be so high.

    Just a thought.
  • Insurance premiums are high because of the people that dont have insurance...

Uninsured drivers add roughly £30 to each policy, there are many other reasons that have caused premiums to increase so much
  • I too was involved in an accident a year ago - head on, car written off, husband driving & kids in the back - other drivers fault & he got fined, banned, instructed to retake his test as a result (so we think not the first time). We were offered £400 compensation for one of the kids, my husband and I are still seeing physio, I have an appointment to see an orthopedic consultant coming up but the whole process seems to take so long.
Others I know have been involved in (less serious??) accidents, and been offered thousands within a few weeks. I too would appreciate some insight into the process - why does it take so long in some cases but not others - is it down to the solicitor or the insurance company ?? The other guys insurance company have admitted liability in the claim for my one son (the settled one) but not in the claim for my other son which my solicitor says is why that claim is still ongoing. Is that normal? I am feeling more and more frustrated with the solicitor over the lack of communication/delays etc but don't want to complain if this is the usual way these things go!

It is usually down to a combination of factors, but I suspect in your case the thing that's holding it up is the fact that you have not yet recovered from your injuries. In my view it is absolutely right and proper that claims should not be settled before the injuries are resolved and you know how it may affect you in the long term.

There are some insurance companies who make high offers at the beginning to tempt people into settling early, as this saves them money on solicitors costs. This is all well and good if you have a minor injury which doesn't take long to resolve but a more serious injury needs time and proper consideration.

Come back again when you have whiplash. It's not brilliant fun. My life over the past few months has completely changed. I can't stand for longer than 10 minutes without being in intense pain. Struggling through the 9-5 then being able to do nothing but lie horizontal all evening. I'm 26. Life should be easier!

So I'm sorry your premiums have gone up (so have mine) but I want my treatment to be paid by the idiot's insurance company NOT out of my own pocket.
